If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

apparently not.
Why apparently not?

I live in DC where Jake was attending Georgetown law and I've talked to him at several Razorback watch parties. We actually went to high school together. Interested to see your answer.

i'd say he's pretty much still in the head huntin business...still one of my favs.

Man had us beating #1 Florida and #1 Alabama. I'm pretty sure that song playing in the you tube vid is exactly what his brain was like on those sacks too.. No idea what it's about, but I feel it.

So that's w/bare hands. Man needs no weapons.

Ugly Uncle

Probably my all time favorite Razorback...for more than just his playing ability.  What a tremendous young man he is.

My guess would be he is assuming if he finished law school he would branch JAG or stay civilian, a reasonable assumption, The army is always in need of specialist officers (doctors, lawyers, etc.).

With that being said however, guys that are as close as possible to being a slam dunk to be a successful officer in a Ranger Battalion don't come around that often. I doubt that this was his backup plan.

Ben Steiger

Infantry Basic Officers' Leaders' Course, Fort Benning, Georgia.

Produces a basic-trained United States Army infantry officer, ready to be sent to a line infantry battalion or further training.

Exciting opportunity for this young man, and a decision he'll never regret.

Yeah I basically thought the same thing about that. Coming in and being a Captain in your first year is tough to pass on but I imagine Jake is not in a position where he has to make every career decision based on immediate fiscal return.

Or maybe he didn't make the diversity cut for Jag
If Auburn is dirty so is Gus. You can't have it both ways. Deal with it.

I remember a play against Florida(?), possibly when he was a freshman and he stuffed the line at a critical moment near their end zone. Knew right then the kid was an absolute stud.

As all infantry officers go to ranger school, it'll be interesting to hear how much weight he loses during the nine weeks.   Heard many a ranger coming out looking like Auschwitz survivors.

Hogville prediction formula:

1.  Insert bad news prediction. A loss, a recruit going elsewhere, a coach leaving, etc.
2.  Tag "hope I'm wrong," on the end.
3a.  Enjoy a correct prediction.
3b.  Act like you're relieved you're wrong and celebrate with everyone else.

My wife just asked me about Jake today, since he used to play for the Patriots.  Jake was one of our favorite Razorbacks of the past 10 years.  You could tell he really worked his tail off to get better.

All infantry officers don't go to Ranger School.

However, if you want to go all the way, you should.

If you are branch detailed and want to remain Infantry, it is a must.

When I said all go I meant basically all are "encouraged" to go.

I'm not an infantry officer (engineer), but served with many of them.
