Went 3-3 on the day but hit my 2 biggest plays including my 10 unit play so I ended up having a profitable day.

I don't know of one, DadVad.

I'm 44-45 on the season, a good year for me. No, really.

Like those two. Just hard to put money on a Kentucky team who will be fielding the court with players who are literally playing the best team each has faced individually.

I agree. I am new to college hoops wagering so i've cut my base bet down for now.

Either way, I see a game this early in the season being more about talent and less about coaching so I like the Cats.

Kansas was a much easier bet though.

Ended up taking the under in the Duke/Kentucky game. Looking pretty good right now. I tail a guy on twitter who is good at college hoops, 60%+ good. Stucky2 is his account.

For Saturday I'm looking at TN +4 @ Vandy, Oregon -20.5 vs. Stanford, and Mizzou -4.5 vs. Syracuse.

Here's what I've done so far:
Miss St. -6 v. Hogs (15 units)(State's passing game has improved enough to take advantage of our weak secondary.  At home on what would be Nick Bell's senior day, I think they win by at least a TD)
Stanford +21 @ Oregon (2 units)(This is more of a spreadsheet play.)
Notre Dame -23.5 v. Wake Forest (4 units)(Another spreadsheet play.  Wake is bad (lost by 31 to NC State last week), and ND will be looking for style points.)

widespreadsooie

Also intrigued with BC +9.5 at home against VT.

Horrible Weekend, went 1-4. This weekend there's not too much that catches my eye. I am liking Vandy -4, but not ready to pull the trigger.

I am looking long and hard at this weekend.  Only appears to be a few gems out there to be had.
Let's make some waves.

DadVader1

The Tenn v. Vandy game just has too many questions for me to get comfortable with it.  How will Tenn play with Dooley all but gone?  How big of an impact will it have on Vandy to have their lead RB out or playing injured? If Ole Miss can light up the Vandy D for 400+ passing yards, what will Bray do to them?  I thought Ole Miss outplayed Vandy for much of the game last week but sputtered at the end (maybe a lack of depth).  I'd generally lean toward Franklin at  home over Dooley on the road, but Tenn has owned Vandy for the last several years, and neither one of them is doing all that well ATS.

I know it's a weak conference, but NIU might have the second most fun qb to watch in football this year. Lynch just shreds it up!

I've been a few last-second collapses/flukes away from having big weekends in maybe 2 or 3 of the last few weekends, and FINALLY had things break my way this weekend.  Went 4-0 for +23 units, making it +30 for the season.  Also moved into 3d place in a TD SEC Rant ATS pick'em contest, within striking distance of 1st going into the last week of the season.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'm thankful for you seasoned veterans who keep teaching and sharing picks with the rest of us. I'm also thankful to have this as a fun distraction from our dumpster fire of a season, and I'm ESPECIALLY thankful that The Search should be over soon.  I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas morning and hoping it gets here by maybe the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

It's really rough when you have what you feel solid picks.  They lose the cover late, ad you look back and say I would have bet the same way 10 times out of 10.  I had some truly horrible week early this year the likes of wish I hadn't experienced in ages.  Just made me focus and work harder.  Turned it around pretty nicely.

Your database questions are lost on me.  I am a bit more old school.  Have my little war room with a huge dry erase.  Monday morning I look at games and lines. Monday is nothing but gut feel.  Games I like go on my board an I forget about it.

Tuesday I start trimming it down.  Trends and other info. Trends and line movement make up very little if what I decide.

Wednesday the focus becomes much more serious.  Games that looked great on Monday but feel iffy now I either drop entirely or make a small play.

Thursday is my day to check weather, injuries, suspensions.  I then make 5 or 6 phone calls to people I feel I get great info from.  One call goes to Nevada, one goes to Cleveland, one to the Bronx, and a couple to A.C.  If they are all in agreement on a game I am looking at its a dime play or larger.  If its larger than a dime and I post it on here I still post as a dime.  When they all agree or if I get a call saying Jeff get on this game I do in a big way.  I never say that here because if someone went that way for more than they could afford I would feel awful.

I will say this when I get a call or they all agree its literally hit 19 of 22 times.  I generally text that out.  Sent one out to a fellow hogvillian once before, but he didn't get it in time.  Think he was working or had class or something when I sent te text.

Friday I just firm up in my mind what I decided on Thursday.  Another check for arrests, injuries, suspensions.  Sat morning I make my plays and sun morning for NFL.  I almost never place early to get what I consider a great line because of fear it will move the other way.  Yep sometimes it bites me in the butt, but more times than not it has saved me a huge headache.

Anyhoo.  Hope everyone has a great week.
Let's make some waves.

I KNOW you like the Steelers, but I just have a VERY hard time putting money on a team when Leftwich is their starting qb.

THANKS for the rundown of your week.  I'm trying to move more toward a pattern like you describe.  On getting in early bets, on Sundays, I still try to pick one or two games where I think the line will move rapidly and try to get a great spread before it moves too much.  I am starting to get the feeling that it isn't making much difference, so I plan on watching it to see if I can justify the risk of pulling the trigger so soon.  On that note, I think you may have been the one who taught me to NEVER bet on LSU early in the week for fear of arrests/suspensions during the week.
