How you gonna win when you ain't right within?

Here I am again mixing misery and gin....

Uncle Remus

I'm interested to see the announcement and see what the exact plan is going forward.  I'm curious to see if he is going to try and mirror the NFL or if they are still going to try and make some sort of "Hybrid" football league that has its own set of rules that set it apart from standard football.  Trying to topple or compete with the NFL will be difficult due to television contracts etc.  It is definitely something worth listening to and I think now is as good a time as any with the current declining support of the NFL.  Strike while the iron is hot.

Still waiting on "Major League Football" to follow through. Arkansas was supposed to get a team.

Will we know what a freaking catch is? If so, I'm all in.
People ask me what I do in winter when there is no baseball.  I will tell you what I do. I stare out the window, and I wait for spring.

I'm interested to see what time of media contract they attempt to get.  With so many viewers moving away from standard TV watching, I could see them going for an internet-exclusive type of deal with Netflix or Hulu or the sort (or with multiple sites), which could get way out in front of how viewership continues to evolve.  The technological world will be greatly advanced when this league starts playing in 2020, and Vinny Mac has always been a step ahead when it comes to the use of technology.  I'm interested...

Last post in the Tavern here.  See you guys.  Have fun.

They should create a D league kinda like the NBA.  Have a league after thr nfl ends or after the NFL draft.  It would allow guys to get more looks towards nfl teams and we wouldn't have to go without football for 7 to 8 months

Has very small chance at any success.  Has to embrace social media, player safety, technology, gambling, and fantasy.

He did say no WWE crossover and wants faster games with possibly no halftimes, no replay, and far fewer penalties. Also can't have prior criminal convictions (mentioned DUIs specifically).  Lots of questions and comments about the anthem.  I found that silly as the league is 2 years away and impossible to know what political climate our country will play then, although will trend now in the news.

I vote for 7 on 7 football. No way you will be able to compete with NFL salaries so getting elite defensive and offensive linemen will be near impossible. No blocking or tackling will help with pace of play, player safety, and concussions.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me

Take out player safety and you pretty much just described professional wrestling.

     My ideas.

1, Needs to be a spring league and build toward having 16 teams.
2, Needs to embrace the HUNH style of play
3, Three 20 minute periods. Eliminates half-time.
4, Actually have a draft.
5, Field goal points are based on distance. Every 10 yards = 1 point.

I think its a great idea...will give Austin Allen a place to play... :P

I think the old way of the NFL dominating is dying, not anytime soon but it is wounded. If he plays it smart and caters to an audience he could have a little something. In no way would it ever pass the NFL, but I'm sure it could be as popular as say hockey in time.

I agree.  If he employees the right people and builds a league actually worth watching. It would have a following.

Yep. I've heard talks of him going for guys who are extremely popular from college but flamed out in the NFL. Think Tim Tebow, Vince Young etc. guys that people will watch just to check out the league and once your watching it your excited because it's football and boom there's your viewership.

If they would actually be able to hold a draft each season.  The XFL would find plenty of talent.

Interested in seeing what rule changes they make. Hopefully, they get rid of special teams completely.

Special teams are the most exciting thing.  The whole game should be nothing but kick off and cover! =)
