We have now also offered AAO Banshees 17u / Springdale High 2019 player Marquesha Davis

Very surprised.

I recall you expressed concern about her effort level on another thread.  And from what I have seen in the high school games, I tend to agree that she doesn't always seem to be going all-out.  On the other hand, she certainly has the athletic ability, she was the leading scorer in the high school 7A West, and apparently she impressed Coach Neighbors at the recent Phoenix Gauntlet event.  The upside is there.

Obviously, we are not the only program going after the Banshee 2020 girls:

A quick review of new Twitter follows after yesterday's games in Dallas showed that at least UCLA, Louisville, Stanford, Oklahoma State, and Ohio State started following one or more of the team's players.

I think that post is referencing the Banshees 17u team (i.e. from which we have already offered Rokia Doumbia and Marquesha Davis).  I believe two of the other starters on that Banshees team (Liz Dixon and Jamilyn Kinney) are already committed to other schools.  Liz Dixon (6'4" 2018) would definitely be one we would like to have.  I see that Mike Neighbors is following her on Twitter but she is apparently committed to Georgia Tech.

psycHOGlogist

I think you're correct -- on all counts.

brs_hogfan

We have now offered 2020 Taylen Collins as well.  So that is now three 2020 players off of the Banshees Premier 16u team that have been offered (Goforth, Salary, and Collins).

Sounds like you were onto something!!  So they are honoring Goforths offer from Dykes?

I don't think that's likely, though who knows. The more probable scenario is that it's just too early for ESPN to have a good idea about the 2019 class. Still a lot of time to do evaluations out there.

She is being recruited by Iowa (and lots of other teams) -- I wonder if she is someone who Coach Goldwire has a good relationship with.

Nice article on Mike Neighbors including a description of his many ties to Arkansas and relationships with the high school coaches across Arkansas: http://www.wholehogsports.com/news/2017/may/06/open-mike-new-arkansas-coach-describes-path-dream-/

Thanks for posting that ... Good article, and it seems like CMN is really a good guy who really wants to succeed here.

And LOL at Blair saying that UW is a "top 10 job nationally." That's why they had to hire the LBSU coach after Mike left.

flippinhogmana

espn has her down as a 3 star but her position rank is #5 which tells me she will be a 5 star recruit.

She is rated a '90'-thats an extremely high 3 star, or not quite four star.  As far as that ranking and being a position number five, she and other girls have two full years before the ranking will be final.  Chrystyn Williams was at one time ranked number one overall and one in her position but has slipped down to number two.  There are very few five stars per position.

Some girls slip a lot more or shoot up a lot, especially if they haven't played a lot of AAU ball yet.  Growth makes a lot of difference sometimes;  she may or may not grow much, but if she did, that would be interesting.  She is listed at 6-0/6-1, what if she became a legitimate 6-2?  She is an interesting player for a sophomore to be sure.

Actually, Chrystyn Williams was recently bumped up to the number 1 spot for 2018:

I didn't realize that she had previously held the top spot but, anyway, she is at the top now.

And Yo'Myris Morris moved up from 60 to 59, fwiw.

Good for ms. Williams, ms Morris, but my point is (that you just made again, or perhaps emphazised) is that there is movement in the ratings over time.

Again, not in-state, but Neighbors has re-upped the offer to 2019 Gabby Gregory from OK/Holland Hall. Pretty sure Dykes had offered before, but not sure.

2018 Fayetteville High School 6'1 forward Jasmine Franklin has been offered by the Razorbacks.  She is a strong, aggressive rebounder, good shot blocker, and an excellent overall athlete.  I think she would be a great addition. I have not seen much shooting range from her though so I think that is one area she needs to improve.

I'm not sure if it was from the Elite Camp.  I just saw it posted on Twitter -- Jasmine replied to this tweet: https://twitter.com/Jervaedominique/status/876268528432799744.

porque

I've known Jasmine since she was a baby.  I think brs_Hogfan explained her game well.  She is tough as nails and close to 6'1".

Arkansas has now offered 2020 Coriah Beck which makes four out of the starting five of the Banshees Premier U16 team that Arkansas has offered:

https://twitter.com/ArkansasBanshee/status/885533753816358912

The others offered, who are also all 2020's, are Sasha Goforth, Destiny Salary, and Taylen Collins.  Point guard Wyvette Mayberry is the only starter on the team not (yet) offered.  I have watched them play many times and Mayberry is certainly an equally valuable member of the team but I suppose there are more options available for point guards.

I was told that one or more Arkansas coaches attended every game the team played in the Adidas Gauntlet tournament this week in Dallas (the team won the Gold division).

LadybackBBFan

Coach Love was in Dallas.  She tweeted all week about watching future Razorbacks.

brs_hogfan

Sasha Goforth and Elauna Eaton both playing at the prestigious BlueStar 30 all star camp.

https://twitter.com/MikeFlynn826/status/887766547917352962

Two of the best 2020's in the country.  Would love to see them playing together as Razorbacks some day!

psycHOGlogist

The staff is headed out on the road again next week, starting Sunday.

Tacomeat

We need to be giving Elauna Eaton the full court press. She is a top 10 (maybe top 5) national player.

brs_hogfan

In talking with various parents while watching AAU games this summer, I have been hearing good things about players reactions to Coach Neighbors (seems genuine, like his style and insights, etc.).  Here is an article from Richard Davenport that includes a discussion of Coriah Beck's offer and her reaction (title is regarding football player but half of the article is on Beck): http://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2017/jul/25/georgia-dl-mincey-arrives-for-ua-campus/?f=sports

Seems to echo the comments I have been hearing.  I think that bodes well for our future recruiting.

brs_hogfan

Prospects Nation just came out with their 2020 rankings:

https://prospectsnation.com/players/ranked/2020

Sasha Goforth at #12 and Elauna Eaton at #13.  Not bad!  But I think they both will move up further over time.  I have seen some of the other girls ranked ahead of them and think Sasha and Elauna are better.

Do we get these young ladies?   I assume a lot depends on Neighbors style of coaching and whether these ladies like it.  Also might depend on how well we are doing at the time.  Great players want to play on very good teams and have a chance of winning the NCAAT.    Do we have any close ties to these two girls?  Dads or uncles big Hog fans?

I have less insights into our chances with Elauna Eaton than with Sasha Goforth.  But for Goforth, here is what I know: 1) she attended Coach Neighbor's elite camp this summer, 2) Coach Neighbors and/or his coaching staff attended most of the games Goforth's AAU team played this summer at multiple sites across the country, 3) I have heard good things in general from parents about their kids reaction to Coach Neighbors, and 4) in regard to your question about UA connections, Goforth's dad used to be a professor at UA.  I think our chances are good!

Porked Tongue

I'd guess she's waiting on THE offer and has plenty of time as an incoming soph.

Also a fact: Although an Arkansas native, Goforth's dad is a Texas alum. (gasp!)
(He also is apparently super smart.)

Furthermore: Is Eaton really 6'0" like prospectsnation says? I thought she was closer to 5'9" than 6". Maybe she's grown. ETA: looking at this picture, she does look fairly close to Goforth (who is in the 6'1" range now), so maybe 6' is more accurate than I thought.

We are certainly trying hard to "build the wall" around the state with all the excellent developing talent we have in Arkansas on the girls' side.

psycHOGlogist

A couple thoughts on 2018... It's hard for a new staff to build relationships with recruits in a short amount of time before they are ready to commit, so the 2018 class was always going to be an uphill battle. Most of the recruiting attention I've seen on the staff's twitter accounts has been directed at 2019 kids, 2020's, and beyond. But we do need to get some 2018's to start building depth and plugging any holes in the roster we may have.

We still have no 2018 commits, though Dungee and Gaulden are in some respects 2018 players for us due to the transfer/sit out rule. You'd really like to see us nail down a commitment in the next couple months from a 2018 forward/post (or, you know, two). Yo'Myrie Morris from NLR and Jasmine Franklin from FHS (though ... she's really more of a Kiara Williams-size player) come to mind as possibilities (unless we can flip someone like Liz Dixon from Ga Tech ... a guy can dream).

We had a 2018 commit, PG Mya Bhinhar from Owasso, who de-committed shortly after the coaching change. She was one of CJD's first commits, actually, and was ranked the #51 player in the 2018 class at the time (back in the 2015/16 time frame). Her star has fallen a bit lately, however. After her de-commit, she has picked up several DI offers, but none (that I have seen) from the SEC or Big 12. I have seen where Lamar, UTEP, Nicholls State, Austin Peay, Old Dominion, and (perhaps the best) MO State have offered her. I really wish this kid well, and she's obviously a DI talent, but it definitely seems like a possible missed evaluation by Dykes to have offered her when no other SEC/P5 schools seem to be interested. She is still listed as a top 100 2018 player on prospectsnation, but she's now down in the 80s (and I think she's over-rated there). I certainly think that Gaulden, also a PG, is an upgrade.

I think we have at least 3 schollies available for 2018 -- Cosper + 2 currently vacant spots. Morris and Franklin have offers. Anyone know any other 2018s, in-state or out, who we are after (and have a shot at, which leaves out Christyn Williams)?

I would put Eaton at 5'10", but I haven't seen her in several months, so she could have grown some more.

I would take Cameron Brink (6'4" post from Oregon) and Hailey Van Lith (5'9" pg - from Washington) along with Eaton and Goforth in that class and we could compete for the Title.  Neighbors may already have a connection with them.  I can dream can't I!
