"Anderson said he was somewhat nervous about taking a coach's recruiting test after being in the NFL, but said he answered all 30 questions correctly."

Can somebody shed a little light on the subject of a Recruiting Test?

Hogfan46

The NCAA requires every head coach and assistant to take a recruiting certification test each summer that consists of 30 multiple choice or true-false questions related to NCAA amateurism and recruiting rules. Coaches who don't get at least 80 percent of the questions right must wait 30 days to take the test again in order to earn the right to recruit off-campus.

Hogfan46...
Thanks much.  Makes sense, the number 30 seemed pretty high to me, but your explanation clarifies the purpose and need.

Rocky&Boarwinkle

It's like teachers, lawyers, doctors having to do continuing training and sometimes being tested on it to ensure that they all know the rules and regulations of the industry they work in.

Here you go, take the practice test and see how you did.

I need to study the rules.
I do too. However, if I had known that coaches can't attend All-Star games and such I would have passed the exam. Darn, never knew that I'd miss something like six questions devoted to that one particular subject.

longpig

Wow, I quit after the 5th question because I was guessing with zero confidence. :'(

I got 18.  Many of the questions repetitive.  Main categories are official visits, all-star games and camps.

PonderinHog

I got 18, but I figure my magmanimous personality is probably worth six points, so I passed...

Let me rephrase that.  I somehow pulled 18 correct answers out of my ass.

Test was(maybe still is) an open book test, you can bring in the NCAA manual.

That was pretty cool, but I have to wait another 30 days. I got 21/30 for a 70%

Losing gracefully isn't taught in second-tier programs. See Arkansas, Cincinnati, et al.

I didn't know that. Thanks.

21/30 for 70 percent. Not bad considering I only actually knew like 3 answers.

The Ole Miss recruiting test only had 1 question, & it's multiple choice:

(1)   How much cash should you take on a recruiting visit ??

a.   $1,000

b.   $5,000

c.   $10,000

d.   $20,000  & two female companions

e.  all of the above

* Ole Miss reported no failures on the test this year.   ;)

I got 22 correct, but the online test is flawed in that it repeats similar questions that require the same answer as the previous ones.  If you get all those right that's at least 66% correct.

These coaches ain't rocket scientist, got to make it easy for them. And no, I didn't pass it with 80% either.

So you're saying you made a 18 with the manual?

Nope. Didn't take the test. Just didn't seem pertinent to my Sunday afternoon-NFL pursuits.

Same here. I think, in my case, they (the UofA), finally asked, "hey, if we give you this diploma and engrave your name in a sidewalk, will you leave?"
I took them up on their offer.

Thanks for the additional input.  Looks like some of the hogvillians enjoyed the exercise.  Suffice it to say that I am withdrawing my application for any future openings.  Although, open book makes it almost laughable.

23/30. I missed 3 on the satellite camps.

Luther Van Damme should have studied this test. He was fired on his first day. Great DC tho

I got 23. A couple were beyond me - the JUCO rule, for example. So...I guess I can clear my calendar for the next 30 days as CBB will NOT be able to hire me and send me on the road recruiting. :)
I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. I am a Hog fan when we win, when we lose and when we don't play. I love hearing the UA band play the National Anthem on game day, but I sing along to the Alma Mater. Well hell, had I known I could have used the open book concept I would have passed. The all-star game questions were my Achilles heel

17-30 Ouch they got to many rules to follow.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

That was fun.  Thanks for posting.  I took it and got 17-30.  Fail!  :)

I got two questions into the test when I remembered why I hated school and swore after my masters I would never take another exam. Never. Came close this time yet quickly regained my senses.  ;)
