Trevor Etienne, Georgia RB transfer from Florida, arrested for DUI, other driving charges
Andrew Olson | 5 minutes ago

QuoteTrevor Etienne is making the wrong kind of headlines in his first spring at Georgia. The UGA running back, a transfer from rival Florida, was arrested Saturday morning on multiple driving charges, including DUI.

Athens-Clarke County records show Etienne was booked at 4:35 a.m. and released on bond at 5:27 a.m. Saturday. He is charged with DUI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane/improper driving on road and affixing materials that reduce visibility of windows/windshield.

Etienne's DUI charge is labeled "DUI – alcohol – less safe." Under Georgia law, drivers can receive DUI less safe charges even if their blood alcohol content is below .08 if the officer finds the driver to be driving impaired.

Dawg Nation notes that Etienne is the first Bulldog player to be arrested this offseason. Last offseason, Jamon Dumas-Johnson, Jalen Carter, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint and De'Nylon Morrissette all faced driving-related arrests. In January 2023, offensive lineman Devin Willock and staffer Chandler LeCroy tragically lost their lives in an auto accident.

Etienne's transfer from Florida to Georgia was one of the more high-profile transfer stories of the most recent portal cycle.

At this time, Georgia coach Kirby Smart has not publicly commented on Etienne's arrest.

Further details finally emerge from Georgia RB Trevor Etienne's Sunday morning DUI arrest

by:
Dan Morrison

QuoteOn Sunday morning, Georgia running back Trevor Etienne was arrested and charged with a DUI. Now, further details have emerged regarding that arrest.

In total, Etienne was charged with four traffic-related misdemeanors. That includes charges for DUI (less safe), reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and affixing materials that reduce visibility of his windows and windshield. Now, DawgsHQ has obtained the incident report from the ACC:

On early Sunday morning, the arresting officer observed Etienne's vehicle come to a sudden stop at South Milledge Avenue and Macon Highway. The stop was so sudden, in fact, the tires screeched. Following that, Etienne was observed passing two cars, one of which was on a blind curve, at what is described as a high-rate of speed.

At that point, the officer says they put their lights on and began to pursue Etienne and, according to the officer, was not able to catch up to him while going 80 to 90 mph.

Etienne reportedly didn't stop until he reached his gated community. That's when the officer spoke to Etienne, who said he was just trying to get home and admitted he had been drinking. He also did not consent to a field sobriety test and told the officer he would push the car home if he needed to. During this time, the officer says Etienne swayed from side to side while he spoke. His speech was also reportedly slurred. All of that is what led to the officer making the decision to arrest Etienne.

When tested, Etienne's window tint also exceeded the four percent limit. That was found with equipment that another officer brought to the scene.

Trevor Etienne was booked at the ACC at 4:23.

He later posted his bond, set at $1,883.
