UF C TJ McCoy hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after hit-n-run

Florida football player T.J. McCoy was the victim of a hit-and-run by an alleged drunk driver early Friday morning

At around 3 a.m. Friday, McCoy and a passenger were on a scooter traveling west on West University Avenue when they were struck and thrown from the vehicle by a blue 2011 Honda Civic.

McCoy and the passenger were taken to Shands under trauma alert...

"Minor setback for a major comeback," McCoy posted on his Twitter account.

Samantha Lynn Meldrem, 22, was arrested around the 100 block of NW 20th Drive after fleeing the scene of the crash. Her vehicle had a broken windshield and noticeable damage to the hood and front bumper, according to the report.

Meldrem told GPD officers she had consumed alcohol about two hours prior to the crash at Salty Dog...
