Read something interesting about A&M last week, they don't have a player on their team who was alive the last time the aggies beat LSU.

The aggies are 1-8 in their last nine games against Ole Miss, Miss State, & LSU.

Exactly.  They don't "collapse" the second half of every year.  They just play the teams they can beat early, then play the teams that they can't beat late.  Their win over UCLA last year was a "top 20" win...then UCLA played the rest of their season and finished 4-8.

A&M has been overrated for years.  Last year we had people saying they might be the best team in the country and would probably beat Alabama.   How many years of observing the same thing over and over does it take to learn?  Although I guess there is the school of thought that if you keep predicting something long enough it will eventually be true...

No, for 2 reasons:

1.  They have never been a historically dominant program (their national championships were pre-WWII).  At their height they were consistently good, not great.  To assume they will achieve greatness without historical precedent is very speculative.

2.  College station.  If you've ever been, it's just as bad as Starkville, minus the african-american culture.  College station is for nerds and farm boys (which is fine, unless you are trying to cultivate the epicenter of college football).

And the potential at Texas is huge for national championships too..

Saban isn't In the west?   What did I miss?
Yeah I could have worded that better.

According to Bo Bounds (ESPN Radio) Texas A&M is a sleeping giant in the SEC that should take over the minute Saban steps away, but is being held back by Sumlin. He believes that if they were able to get a great coach to go along with those strong recruiting classes, they'll be making SEC Championship runs, possibly even National Championship runs. What do you guys think?
1. The Hogs are the sleeping giant in the SEC.
2. Sumlin is the reason they are having those strong recruiting classes.
3. The Hogs are the sleeping giant in the SEC. :razorback:

They are sleeping Aggies.  Bo don't know Aggies.  Bo Bounds during an interview on Bo Mattingly's show last year was surprised that Arkansas had played more games against teams ranked #1, he attributed this to all those games against Oklahoma.  That told me all I needed to know about Bo Bounds.

I've said this since they joined the SEC.  "Aggies gonna Aggie" they say.  Man, with their resources and recruiting base....hire a better coach than the Longhorns and look out.  I honestly thought Sumlin was the man, but he has 'issues'.

There is something going on there (with Sumlin and staff) that isn't right. They do have too much talent to choke in the second half each season. Is it the way Sumlin manages the program? Or something else? I don't know but it likely doesn't have as much to do with playing a more difficult schedule in the second half of their season than the first half as it does with something coming apart at the seams as the season progresses.

I thought Sumlin would be the guy as well but that doesn't seem to be the case. I always thought Texas was a program just waiting for the right coach. I think A&M is the same. Similar to Georgia who has so much talent but who seemed to drop the ball at the most unexpected times...that was the knock on Richt.

Good comparison with Georgia.  I'll refrain from anything referring to something closer to home, but I think Sumlin has a booze problem and when the season heats up late in the year....he medicates.  Just a thought.  As for Richt, that never would have been the case, he just couldn't close the deal.

So when Texas fails to win the national championship next year we can count on you to come on here and admit you were wrong?

You can count on me to run everyone's face in the mud here as well as the assinine thread from a "journalist" that was started two weeks ago. Incredible talent with maybe the best coach in the nation. Book it.

Texas is not going to win the NC in 2017-18. You are either dreaming or investing yourself in strong drink. Do I think Herman can bring them back to being nationally competitive? Yes, eventually.

Well I got a payoff on Sergio winning so I think I'm on a hot streak. Somehow you guys are so offended that Tom Herman is a top coach.

Offended, no. Rational, yes. And if you bet on Sergio very often to win a major you are definitely a long shot junkie which automatically reduces your likely odds of success. I would think that you would have learned from that.

Is it ok when I refer back to this thread calling you- Musk-fraud-gee ? Good times ahead.... hell and I even hate Texas. I just think it will go a long way teaching you men what a real coach is.

HamSammich

You guys just have no idea what I saw. I'm a season ticket holder and booster for UH as well.
I didn't want the hire but he was hired. By week two that guy had the athletes marching around like the Nazi SS... and I'm not exaggerating... I can't even say I like Herman. He is really a sociopath imo. But from what I've seen up close I already know that Texas players are ready to take on the world. You guys will see.

bennyl08

Marching like the SS is not a useful football skill.

If it took him took weeks to teach them something like that, then I really like their odds to not win the national championship.

Clever guy. Funny stuff. Please reply. This is one of those called paramount threads where so many people lose credibility.... we just need the "journalist" to chime in now:

Hamsammich is giving me those Sportster365 vibes. I'd go put money on uterus not winning but the payout would suck

Herman seems like a great hire but there is a huge difference between turning Texas around in year one and winning the national championship.

Saban, Swinney and Meyer could coach Texas together next year and they wouldn't win it all

Kind of feel bad for making fun of him (them?) now.

Even for someone who is just trolling us, it probably isn't ever a good idea to reference the Nazi SS as an example.

How many have they won lately. Only one. Which is another indicator of how hard it actually is to do so. ANY school has to get the right coach at the right time. The problem is nobody can predict or know when that place and time is. That's what makes Saban's multi NC's so incredible and proof of his program organizational skills, coaching and recruiting abilities.
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.

Texas will win the national championship this year and start stripping recruits from TAMU. They had their window and blew it.

So, how is that working out for you?
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I guess Maryland is better than the world. Thanks for digging this one up, Erie
