That flagrant 1 call was awful. WF player was clearly reaching for the ball.

Putting only No. 1 seeds in your Final Four

The odds of it happening again, according to one study, are 57:1.

Beginning with the 2000 NCAA tournament, No. 1 seeds comprised 36.8 percent of the Final Four (25 out of 68 teams). Last year's Final Four was comprised of one top seed (North Carolina), two No. 2s (Villanova and Oklahoma) and a the first No. 10 to reach the Final Four (Syracuse).

Also worth noting: only 21 of the 128 teams to reach the Final Four since 1985 were seeded outside the top four.

  • the choking incident hurt New Orleans down the stretch.  The choker was one of their best players and never returned to the game.  Shame.

If not for a couple of late-game blunders, New Orleans might have a date with top-seeded Villanova.

Instead, talk about the Privateers' first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1996 surrounds a physical altercation between two teammates during a critical time in Tuesday's First Four play-in game against Mount St. Mary's.

New Orleans trailed by three with less than seven minutes remaining when Travin Thibodeaux, a junior forward, exchanged words with senior guard Christavious Gill. Thibodeaux had just committed a turnover and angrily blamed Gill, seemingly for failing to get him the ball sooner in the post.

While heading to the bench for a timeout, Gill shoved Thibodeaux, who appeared to respond by putting his hands around Gill's neck.

The two were separated before the situation escalated, but Thibodeaux, the team's second-leading rebounder, was benched for the rest of the game.

New Orleans went on to lose 67-66.

"Well, we've got two extremely competitive guys there," Privateers coach Mark Slessinger said

N.C. Central coach LeVelle Moton said before former chancellor Debra Saunders-White died, she had one request of the head basketball coach

    To win a MEAC championship

Eagles (25-8) did that, and now they play UC Davis (22-12)...

Saunders-White, the schools chancellor for three years, died in November from cancer.

Shed be hugging me right now, saying lets go to the Final Four. Next is a Final Four Moton said. So it aint stopping with her. She was a winner. She was a champion and she had the heart of a lion.

This is N.C. Centrals second NCAA Division I tournament appearance in school history. The school went to Division I in 2011.
