Bruce Pearl plans to take full advantage of Auburn's opening football weekend.

The Tigers head coach is set to host a number of key recruits this weekend including Herb Jones, who will take his official visit to their campus. Jones will be surrounded by Auburn's current 2017 recruiting class of Austin Wiley, Davion Mitchell and Chuma Okeke.

To go with the 2017 prospects, 2018 five-star forward E.J. Montgomery and 2018 wing Trey Jamison are expected to be in town, as is 2019 guard Ashton Hagans and 2019 forward Jared Jones.

Billy Kennedy and his staff at Texas A&M will host four top 100 prospects this weekend.

To go with 2017 commit T.J. Starks, Texas A&M will also host in-state four-star guard V.J. Bailey and talented wing Savion Flagg.

Matthew Mayer, a top 50 prospect in the 2018 class, will also be on campus for an unofficial visit.

2018 guard Quentin Grimes will take an unofficial visit to Kentucky this evening, per Basketball University coach Rhossi Carron.

Impressed with Quentin Grimes' feel for the game. Plays at a good pace. Making plays off the bounce for himself & others.

IF he signs, most likely a practice player for this season and then he will test the waters and maybe go pro without ever playing for the mildcats.

Class o' '18 hasnt quite attracted the praise of some others right around it. 2016 was touted as a generational type class, 2017 is seen as excellent, and 2019 has a ton of star power already with a very exciting future. However the class of 2018 has never been spoken about in those glowing terms.

For now it is a class with some holes to fill as we head into the key spring and summer evaluation periods, but in 2018 there is a lot to like right now about the direction it is headed.

If a few of the high upside but inconsistent prospects such as Bol Bol, Nazreon Reid, Louis King, and JaVonte Smart being [sic] to put it all together, people could be singing a different tune about this group in terms of its star potential, like we are already seeing in terms of the top to bottom depth of the class.

Overall there is still a need for players to step up in 2018, but things are much brighter than they appeared heading into the high school season.
