lol.  Back when one of the Long brothers (don't remember which one) was governor of Louisiana.  When he had a bill he wanted passed, he would have the Louisiana State Police stop and detain State Senators or Representatives that opposed the bill on their way to the State Capitol Building.  They would be held their on the side of the road until the bill had been voted on.

The thing in our favor is that Hall has taken an official to Ole Miss and returned uncommitted to them, now after an in home visit where Nutt and Markuson surely urged Hall to commit to Ole Miss, he didn't, all this before his official to Arkansas. If Matt hasn't decommitted by now I like our chances of securing his commitment this weekend.

When I read that a little earlier this afternoon, I immediately recognized Hall's comments about Markuson "looking odd in red and blue", etc., so I looked up his story on Matt's visit to Ole Miss 2 weeks ago.  What do you know - exactly the same comments!  So, it appears that this clown has NOT spoken to Matt since Nutt's in-home, but simply inserted old quotes alongside his mother's current quotes to artificially enhance the impression that Matt's about to sign with Ole Miss.

Now, I don't pretend to know how this will shake out.  But I do know that dropping an old quote in among current quotes is - at best - shoddy journalilsm and more likely a shameful and unethical misrepresentation of events.  The writer should be ashamed.

I was kind of expecting the writer to be Yancy.  I'm just excited that we get the last visit.  Hopefully, with him being a lifelong Razorback fan, he'll stick with his commitment and be a huge building block to our offensive line.

I am ashamed that let they Nutt into my home town of Russellville, I wish we could keep these idiots out of our geat state once and for all.  Matt is a long ways from playing in the SEC he should get redshirted his first season wherever he goes he's big but not real skilled at this point having seen him play a few times.

Is Matt Hall's mom ok?  I mean everytime there is a story about a recruiting visit from anybody she is quoted as saying how great it was.

( Matt Hall was visited by Satan, head coach of Hell U, and his mother was quoted as saying what a great visit it was.)  Mom, seriously, it's ok if the recruiting was just ok.  The schools aren't going to pull his offer, promise.

Horton, Petrino and the o-line coach have their work cut out for them this weekend. Close this guy already. Our facilities are better, we are closer to his home, his new position coach was in the NFL last season, our regional and national (olemiss has no national profile) profile is above Olemiss, Arkansas will have a National schedule during his time on the hill, it will be easier for his moma to see his games, to include 2 a year in little rock. He will get national exposure in 09,10, and 11 blocking for Mallett who will throwing to wright and cruz, he can follow in the tradition of homegrown all-sec, all-american lineman like Andrews, Burlsworth, and Luigs, and finally; he grew up a HOG FAN! close the deal already. :razorback:

I think all the Linemen we recruit will RS.  We already have a fairly experience line with some kids coming off of RS's to fill the gaps.  He will be a great pickup.  With that kind of size and a couple years to get in shape and hone his skills, he should be a monster.

This whole place has cabin fever over recruiting . Best I can describe it .
Im 55 yrs old and I dont remember ever being national champion. Since Ive been "involved " which was much later when Holtz was hired its never been much better than now  that I remember .Its been a lot worse in fact.  When the old dude was coaching we kicked on third down and tried not to lose the game . My Dad hated him with a passion and Dads been gone 15 yrs. I always figgured thats how Nutt got hired.

Were going to have to turn a hat trick like BP did before and thats win big with medium talent . A coach told me one time that a good tackle would always block his tackle. A great tackle would help with a linebacker after he had already knocked his tackle off his feet. I was never able to get that linebacker but I always thought about it . Thats very close to what BP is trying to do . BP and Johnson have done it . Both have had success with medium talent . Of course Johnson is gone , but I dont remember a pair of coaches on one staff at the UofA of their caliber .

Our basketball program has been a different story. Weve had two great coaches here.

If we win enough to win our bowl games then more talent will come because the kids want to go to winners. This whole mess has been as bad as a divorce court with these kids involved. Its a wonder BP has managed as good a job as hes done so far . If Nutt had stayed [and I didnt want him to] then he would have had a running back stable in this recruiting class I believe . BP has brought us a QB/WR stable. Johnson would not have done that for our defense but mebbe someone else will "thats not here yet".

Give this time to develope and dont be hard on these kids if they dont want to go to divorce court .  We need a big helping of stability to give these kids . Next year BP will have a full year with hopefully some success and the program might be trust worthy. The last year with Nutt was worse than BPs history but neither have helped.

bobcat ball

I believe the guy you are talking about from Russelleville was Ronnie Merrit the best LB in school history, he ended up at Murray State if I'm not mistaken boy was he good.  They did have Landon Leach up there for a while and they have Joey Crossland up there now.  Matt Hall would be farther along if he had been at Rville his whole high school career instead of Dardanelle for the 1st two years.

I know the Hall family well, and Matt's mother has never had anything bad to say about anyone. She will say they had a wonderful time where ever they go. She is just that type of person. Matt is not a kid of a lot of words. He's just that type of person.

Matt is split at this time with his decision.
What the Nutt clan is telling him is posibly true. They are telling him that he is a powerful run blocking tackle, and that he will be on the field soon if he comes to Ole Miss.

I have watch him since he was a kid and this is a fact. Matt is truely huge at over 6'10 and a force when he wants to be, but he is not fleet footed, and will never be. His high school coaches have tried to improve his foot speed since he was small.
All that to say that he will have a difficult time PASS blocking against SEC ends in our new schemes.

Matt loves Arkansas and that is why he's undecided. I don't know what Coach P can tell him to sway him to the Hogs, but I hope he can.

Well, then, by all means he should go to Ole Miss where he will run block to the cows come home and never have to pass block.  That way, when he is done at Ole Miss, he can get a job as a bouncer in a casino in Tunica and regail the Ole Miss fans with stories of how big of a bad ass he was in Oxford.

Afterall, all that is much better than coming to Arkansas where he will learn to both run and pass block and if pass blocking is a weakness, learn to compensate for his weakness and possibly, overcome it.  Who would want to do that?  I mean it isn't like he wants to play in the NFL or anything where they make offensive linemen do things like that silly old pass blocking.

Hambunctious

Then he needs to play on the inside if he's worried about pass blocking, much less speed to worry about.

The whole point with this is PT. That's what these coaches can give them and that's really what all these kids want. A chance to shine on the big stage.
I hope Matt is a hog, but he's not even sure he can contribute here.
Matt knows he can for Nutt.

I guess that tells me all I need to know about the kid.  I had heard that he was soft and didn't have the killer attitude needed.  If he is not confident enough that he can come in and do well at Arkansas, or if he is not willing to work on a weakness in his game to get to where he can play, then we don't need him.

Really, does he have ambitions of playing in the NFL?  Has he ever watched an NFL game?  Does he not see all of the pass blocking they do?  Does he not understand that to ever get to play there, he is going to have to work hard to learn to be an adequate pass blocker, no matter how good of a run blocker he is?  If he goes to Ole Miss, when does he propose to learn this skill?

Hambunctious

He'll be a hell of a tackle no matter where he goes.  BP doesn't run a true spread anyway, I don't understand what he's thinking.

This kid can be a beast when he wants to be, he is not soft, he is just not quick. If he can engage the defender they are done.
Here, He is being recruited based strictly on his size and on his huge potential. At Ole Piss, They know he can run block and He could play as soon as he gets there. I don't know if anyone can turn Matt into a solid pass blocking tackle, but I hope that Bobby P. can.

You haven't answered my question.  Does the boy want to play in the NFL?  If so, then if would behoove him to learn to pass block.  If not, then by all means go to Ole Miss.

I don't care how big and strong he is, if he is afraid of a weakness or is not willing to work to overcome a weakness, he is soft and won't amount to much.

I'm sure he wants to play on Sunday.

Nutt is telling him how many lineman that they have sent to the NFL running their Offense. Their get rid of it quick passing scheme and their run it down your throat offense.

IMO Matt will do fine where ever he goes.

As for arkansas he loves the Hogs. He loves the state. He Loves Fayetteville.
I think with Ole MIss, He likes Nutt & Markenson, (They have courted him since the 8th grade) and he likes his chances of playing early.
