Yeah, and more than 10% of time devoted to the passing game too.

You have to want to try, and by try, I mean put sufficient time and effort in practice to the pass game.

We can talk about special teams all day long.  yes there were breakdowns there, but you have to have a passing game of some sort because guess what.  You WILL BE BEHIND SOMETIMES AND NEED A QUICK SCORE.  Yes d-mac of fj could break one at anytime, but near as likely in the 4th quarter when the other team says you may beat us, but not with those two guys.  When they say hey arkansas beat us with the pass we are in trouble.
Let's make some waves.

Listen, there is no doubt that we struggled with STs late.  We also made a few big plays on STs.  The game against Wisconsin, we block a punt only for the kicker to recover it and throw a hail mary.  Bad luck on that.   In that same game, however, CD hits Monk right in stride for what would have been at least a first down and likely a TD....but he drops the pass.   In the same game, DMac gets run down on what would have been a TD if not for the horsecollar tackle suffered at South Carolina.   Yes we made ST mistakes, but we could have and should overcome them by other means.

This is a team sport and every unit plays a part in the outcome.

heck,we just need 60% compl rate and 150 yards per game with a good compl to interseption ratio, say 3/1.

We miss you Mitch and Gus.

why,,,, mitch would be no better...  after i saw him play in the high school all-star game in texas,, uh ohh he is over rated... couldnt complete anything
If you actually saw Mitch play in that game, you must have noticed that the left tackle (blind side)that was protecting him while he was in the game had a broken arm, and couldn't even slow down one of the best DE's in the nation due to that.  Something about getting pummeled by a 280 lb D-lineman, every time you drop back to pass the ball, it tends to mess up your timing and pretty much everything else involved in passing a football.

Funny that Pete Carol kept a scholarship open for him, but he wasn't good enough to play for the Hogs in the eyes of many of our fans.

What are you talking about?  In the LSU game, we lost by 5 points and gave up a 92-yard kickoff return for a TD (7 points + huge momentum swing) and missed an extra point in the first quarter (1 pt) that caused us to go for 2 pts the next time we scored (which I didn't like), which we did not convert.

In the Florida game, we had a 21-17 lead and Florida was punting to us with 3:00 left in the 3rd Quarter.  Instead of having a 4 point lead and the ball, we ended up down 3 points and the momentum more than swung in their favor after that.  On top of that, Jeremy Davis missed a field goal.  So, that's 10 points right there + a huge momentum swing.

Do you remember those Jimmy Johnson coached Miami teams of the mid '80s?  They were balanced.  They had good running backs in a solid pro scheme and terrific receivers and quarterbacks.

Almost all of the time they didn't have to worry about trying to stay close and win it late in the 4th quarter because they kept hammering away scoring throughout the game.  When they were in 3rd and long situations they could get out of it and keep drives alive because they had great balance offensively.

We face 3rd and long and we're dead unless DMac or Felix can bust something loose.  That's not high percentage football against the best teams.

You can have the position that we were close in those games last year and we almost won if special teams this or special teams that, but the truth is if we'd developed true offensive balance we could've pressed the attack at all times from anywhere on the field and scored more points to not be in a situation where one mistake means you lose a close game.

That's one of the biggest problems with Nutt and his whole philosophy.  It leaves zero margin for error.
