He needed to display he could beat a hard close out and create after that via scoring or dishing. You force a hard close out by taking and making 3s. 3

Exactly. The cost is in operating the program. How much does women's bowling cost to operate. 4

Jump Ball / Re: Daniel GaffordLast post by bphi11ips - Today at 09:50:41 amQuote from: bjeffersonhog on Today at 07:37:27 amThis is pretty spot on. The NBA drafts on potential. Scouts saw Gafford essentially stay the same type of player and not develop any extra skills from year 1 to year 2 under Mike. It made them question whether he could actually develop new skills, or would always just be a freak athlete. He slipped on draft boards because of that. Assuming this is true, and I don't question it, do you think a player should use college to audition projected NBA skills or work on developing new skills? Some here suggested early this year Brazile should focus only on rim running and hunting 3's because that will be his role in the NBA. That's how he'll create space. One mock draft analyst around that time suggested Brazile needed to work on his overall game. That was my thought at the time. Basketball strategies, buzz-words, and rules change over time. But what goes around usually comes around. At the end of the day, the game is about 5 players trying like hell to score the most points before the final buzzer. Athleticism and body type is where it starts, but basketball is a game of little things. Little things learned and practiced over years and years until they become second nature. After that comes the intensity and competitive nature of a champion. One turnover or loose ball could be the difference in a game. Gafford showed that intensity at Arkansas as a work-in-progress. 8
Monday Morning Quarterback / Re: Looks like smaller confere...Last post by littlewheezy - Today at 09:46:37 amQuote from: bennyl08 on Today at 09:05:54 amAgain, those scholarships cost the schools nearly nothing. This is not true. These scholarships cost the schools millions. And as you've noted, additional costs (travel, facilities, coaches) add even more millions. Yes, some schools can absorb the cost, as they have for years. However, we've already seen PAC12 schools cutting Olympic sports a few years ago. At some point, schools will have to ask themselves does having so many niche sports actually add value to the school. We may not see it as much on the P5 level, but we will definitely see it on the D2 level, especially if these schools lose their rent-a-win revenue streams. Another thing that no one here is talking about are the lawsuits currently being filed by female athletes because they aren't receiving the same NIL money as male athletes. Title IX likely means those lawsuits will be successful. Who knows what will happen to the whole model then. 9

Probably the dumbest post of the year and that is saying a lot. Congrats!!!!! He could be Chad Morris level bad for the rest of his career and coach until he passes if he won a Natty next year in my book. 10
