If Petrino leaves, I might have a nervous breakdown.

Well the time has arrived. Sooner than most thought. Time to test BPs loyalty.

I'd be shocked if BP wasn't in their top 3-4.

Honestly, Petrino at Florida with the recruits they get, SCARY.

It's always easy to spend someone elses' money.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Not joking but Petrino would be a great choice.

This is a bad time for Florida recruiting.  DC gone and now the HC stepping down and national signing day just a little over a month out.

How about Tuberville? Just a thought.....not sure they would be interested.

Anyone know a good Florida Message board and what the chatter is on there?
Little known fact, but prior to settling on Guantanamo, the Pentagon wanted to house terror suspects at War Memorial Stadium.  It was deemed to be cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the Geneva Convention.

I have a sinking feeling in my stomach thinking CBP might leave us.......pretty much the opposite reaction to thinking HDN was leaving.

Sign bob pertino to a real expensive extension

It'll be interesting to see how many coaches get raises out of this.

Unless this is somre recent medical thing, though, I'd guess he knew he was going sooner and they've been waiting till Foley set up the deal with the next coach.

I respect Coach Meyers...did a great job at Utah and of course at Florida.

..Coach Petrino, don't even think about it!

Don't forget the great job he did at Bowling Green.

I'm wondering what Charlie Strong is thinking now - think he may have been in contention for the position.
To add a "sig line" or "signature line": Go to your "profile" then go to "modify profile" then scroll down to where it says "Signature" and type in what you want it to say and then click on "change profile". That's it, you're done. Your sig line will only show up on your first post on each page.

Here's a thought.  USC is struggling, and facing problems down the road.   Offer the job to Pete :)

Don't know if it's accurate but I'm hearing that he's had a cyst on his brain for a while that has given him trouble with migraines, etc.

No, he had a cyst on his brain, was removed in 1998.

But yes, the two could be linked together. The dehydration a few weeks back, may not have really been dehydration after all.

GOOD IDEA!!!.....Stay away from our coach!

Doesn't Petrino's contract prevent him from leaving for an SEC school or is that only the SEC West?

deshahawg

I can't believe this. It'll definately change things next year. Maybe we'll get a few of their recruits.

Only SECW...

jep_hog_fan

Reckon Strong wishes he'd stayed? Possibly HC there.

And what's up with him saying "doctor", "health", and "family gets their dad back" when a friend said it wasn't health related. Did his wife squeeze em and say me or football?

That's what I was thinking, didn't he pass out after the SECCG?

If I were a betting man I would think they would go after a Pro Coach or Bob Stoops, anything else will be a step down for them.
Welcome to Arkansas, well if there is nothing to bitch about we will just make something up.

Petrino won't leave...not this soon - right? ;)

Either we lose him this time or he's in for the duration.  If he goes to UF it's also win big till retirement or bust cause there's nowhere else to go and his reputation will be set in stone.

Bobby's been here long enough to know the real potential to win big at Arkansas.  And if he's offered it and turns it down, he puts the job jumper legend to rest.

Petrino's hard to read and I don't think he gives a damn what others may say of him, but I am fairly confident he wants to be coaching for many years to come.

If he hadn't recently signed an extension, I think Jim Harbaugh at Stanford would have been a good candidate.

Stoops might be an option and he's got to win another NC get out of Norman in the next few years.

We need to quit acting like a bunch of frightened school girls.  BP will not be the next coach at UF.  My money is on Dan Mullen.  He could start immediately.  He could leave tomorrow and have a couple weeks with Meyer to transition and hit the ground running.  There would be no need to reestablish recruiting ties hire a brand new staff etc.  No need to learn a brand new offense, so many plusses and he has had a year of OTJ training at MSU and they handled themselves quite well against Florida.

This is not a situation where the program was on a downward slide and all new assistants etc need to be hired.  Florida is most likely very happy with most of the assistants and support staff.  They may also decide to go after an NFL guy like a Chucky, Fisher, or Cowher.  These guys have been mentioned for college jobs before but none with the recent championship pedigree of Florida.  Then there is Stoops.

No cure for a broken heart.  With Tebow gone he just gave up.  Seriously though I hope whatever it is he gets it worked out and it doesn't affect him through the rest of his life.

bphi11ips

He's 45.  Most likely exhausted and wondering whether there's more to life than his job.  Not that much different than many of us, but he's probably in a better position to take a sabbatical.  Best of luck to him.  He seems like an incredible person.
Life is too short for grudges and feuds.

The real Hogules

After reading several pages on Gator message boards at least the average UF fan isn't even thinking of CBP.

Several have suggested Mullen at MSU, since he was the OC under UM and has had a semi-successful coming out party as HC at Mississippi State.
Bobby's back and he ain't here to paint!

Vern Lundquist is the new coach at UF.

No, they are going to announce a recently retired and ex-WVU coach as the new Gator coach at the halftime of the Gator Bowl :-)

I agree with all Bruce states. For the one or two of you who took offense at what I said about the post-Tebow era, lighten up. It was just a joke. For the record, I respect the effort that Meyer and Tebow have given. Their results are stellar.
I don't want you to agree with me because you're weak. I want you to agree with me because you know I'm right.

I heard they already contacted him.  Either way, I think Ole Miss better give him more money and a lengthy contract with a HUGE buy out.

You guys might not remember...but when Spurrier left....Foley went to Stoops....someone else I can't remember and Mike Shanahan the Denver Bronco's HC.

They all said no and they had to settle for Zook.

NOW guess who's sitting on the sidelines deciding which job he wants to take.....and he and Foley are friends.

You might see Shannahan in Gainsville.

He just turned down the Bills.

I believe CPBs buyout is at 4.3 mill in the 3rd year of his present contract.  Thats chump change for a major program bent on maintaining top of the heap status.  Its been noteworthy the Petrino brothers pursuit of top Fla. recruiting connections rather than increasing assets in Tx.  All that said, Fla. hasn't had to be a really big spender on its coaching staff recently and i am guessing it is a year early to worry about losing CPB to a major Fla. school.

If it were to come to pass however, jerkoff Jeff Long better be on the next train out of town.
