Does any one care. Lets say the average pool is 30k  Normal take out would be $5,100. The new takeout is $3,000. It is not going to increase the value of a show ticket by squat to the $2 or $5 player.  You could hit tickets all day and not buy one extra beer.  Now you betting a big ticket then yeah.

I don't see this driving up the money bet. I would rather see tem go to the dime intervals like NY on all bets.

And it is only for on track bets.

QuoteThe financial incentive will be accomplished by reducing the takeout on show wagers and thus increasing the amount paid back to customers. This means the payoff on show wagers made at Oaklawn will be higher than the payoff on the same show wager made off-track or through ADW services. In fact, the on-track Show Bet Bonus payback to customers will be similar or higher than the payback to customers generally found on slot machines in casinos.

Fans will be able to follow the Show Bet Bonus throughout the race day on a special display that will appear on the tote boards and will be shown on in-house TVs. The display will clearly indicate the higher payout on every winning show wager made at Oaklawn.

Not for the $2 player, but the $20 player will see the benefits immediately. I attended the Oaklawn banquet tonight and Vic Stauffer discussed this at length.

What percent of the track handle comes from OTB and ADW vs On-Track? Keep in mind 7% of the entire show pool will be split to on track wagers only.

Last year the majority of money was off track by about 2-1.  The democrat shows the total handle breakdowns.  I liked it when they use to show by track what was bet on simulcast through Oaklawn but they have quit doing that.

$30,000.00 show pool amounts to 15000 $2.00 bets. Assuming a 10 horse field bet equal or 1500 - $2.00 bets per horse produces 4500 winning tickets. 2/3rds of those tickets are sourced to OTB producing 1500 on-site winning tickets to split $2100.00. I'd say it could make a significant impact on $2.00 show bet payoffs.

You sound pretty smart for a dumb ole famrboy!  ;D

Once it is discovered that the show bet bonus produces on-site payouts comparable to or even greater than the win or place payout for races featuring highly favored entrees - which could eventually cause leeching of on-site betting from these pools. After the new wears off - the show bonus may prove to provide greatest value early in the meet. If leeching occurs - it could provide some value to the overall win and place pools later in the meet. This bonus may have worked better if utilizing the early and late Daily Double and Pick-3. Just some random thoughts.

Bridge jumpers are gonna love this.

Most returns were 40 cents higher yesterday. A few were 60 cents. I only stayed through the first 5 races but the show money was equal to the place money or damn close. I was very surprised.

Reason i only stayed through 5 was I hot the early P4 and decided I had enough profit for the day and I wouldn't have had the late P4 so it was a good call.

I never played show ticket and did yesterday. Got 3.80 on a horse that was 7/2

Anyone ever try doing a show parlay for a whole card? Harder than it sounds. This would make it pay that much better.
