I was born and raised in Arkansas and can honestly say that Arkansans, for the most part, are fiercely protective of people/things they care about.  Take the whole episode of the lady who wore the Gators hat to the Petrino press conference.  She was run out of the state by fans who fell in behind Petrino.  But at the same time once you fall out of favor it's over.  If an Arkansan feels like you've screwed them over good luck ever getting back in their good graces.  That's where Bielema is now, and very close to where Long is as well.  CBB has screwed up the Hogs and needs to go.  He had the ultimate support of the fans, probably hitting a peak with his borderline erotic comment about taking a knee versus Texas.  But he's lost it and there will be no getting it back.  Long, through his silence, is not making a stand against the failures of his coach and thereby is quickly eroding any trust he had too.  Once it's gone, it's gone and no amount of promising better next year will bring it back.

He never had ultimate support of the fans although he was probably mildly popular after the Texas Bowl.  He followed a popular coach who wasn't fired due to on the field failure.  He didn't throw the ball enough.  Didn't spread the field enough.  Against hurry up offense.  Wasn't from Dixie.  From that B1G area where they are all slow.

The Long comment is dumb as are most concerning him.

Arkansans are protective and under-educated with an inferiority complex.  It's why we need one of our own.  Keep it in the family.  We get ourselves.
Quote from: MaconBacon on March 22, 2018, 10:30:04 amWe had a good run in the 90's and one NC and now the whole state still laments that we are a top seed program and have kids standing in line to come to good ole Arkansas.  We're just a flash in the pan boys.

Under-educated?  That's painting with a broad brush.  Inferiority complex?  Yes to some degree but also to some degree it is justified.  We don't need one of our own, just someone who can come in here and get it.  Someone who seems like they care as much about the Hogs winning as we do.  Is that really too much to ask?
