Yep.  If you haven't heard, the Winchester M70 is about to be an import.  When FN bought Winchester repeating Arms, they moved production to South Carolina and started making the rifle on all new, modern equipment.  Now it turns out SC labor is too much.  The parts will still be made there, but they will be shipped to Portugal for assembly and then complete rifles imported into the US.  At least it's not China.

If you want a made in the US Winchester/FN M70, you better buy it soon.

The good news?  There are more made in the US rifles now than ever before.  Nothing wrong with buying a gun made somewhere else, it's just hard to fathom a M70 with a made in Portugal stamp on it.

Maybe it's already happened.  I know they had planned to make the move in 2013 but never heard anything else about it until a few months ago.  Has anyone bought one recently?  Anything that says assembled in Portugal on or with it?

I have not see one yet but who knows.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

NICE . . . pics or it didn't happen!  HA!

The wood is pretty basic for a cooper, but the checkering is how hand cut checkering should be.

Very Nice!  Congrats.  Now it's time to put some more meat in the freezer!

This will replace a ruger 77RSI in 250-3000 as my main whitetail rifle.  I can't shoot too many though as my daughter fills her tags pretty quick.

Very nice looking rifle, Kodiak.  Is it hard to find brass for the .250 Savage?

I have not had any problems getting brass for it.  I usually keep 100 rounds of new brass in reserve and don't use them until I get their replacement.  Remington probably makes the brass every 2 years or so, but they must make quite a bit for loaded ammo and brass for reloading.  The loads are so mild the brass easily lasts for more than 5 shots.

Reason I asked.....noticed that Cabela's shows the Remington Brass online in stock right now for the .250 Savage.  It was one of the few calibers that showed in stock online.  If you need some, might want to get it ordered pretty quick.
