We are 3-1 and will most likely be 4-2 after Bama.  We will have 6 remaining winnable games.  I think most would of taken this at the beginning of the year.  Having said this, we desperately need to find an offensive gamebreaker on offense.  Time to give Whaley, Hammonds, etc more opportunities.  Reed has to get right mentally.  If one can emerge we could still win 9-10 including the bowl win.

devildoghawg

There is nothing wrong with the workhorses, or the damn defense for that matter.  The problem is 100% on the offensive line.  If they did their damn job we would have been up by 30 at halftime.

That's if Alabama doesn't split AA in half.

Bingo. Plain and simple. Oline needs to get their sh*t together.

It's not that we lost but the way we lost.  Absolutely frustrating.

Youth on the O-Line is what is hurting at the moment. Kirkland leaving early makes a world of difference in the O-Line this year.
My ole buddy Biscuit has crossed that rainbow bridge. Life sure is different without him around.

If AA can stay healthy long enough for the OL to get better then I love our chances in the last 6 games.  Allen is a sharp QB.  8-9 win season is still on the table, 10 with a little luck.

Yes.  Oline has been underwhelming and hasn't helped or RBs much.  Or Allen for that matter.

Agree, people are really at melt down point right now.   Season is not over.   A&M was simply better.  O Line really needs work.  To me the backs seemed to be dancing.  Yes I know a lot times there was a defender in the hole.  No I never coached a down in high school or college like the rest of the posters have.  I have just been a fan for 35 years.  Just get ready for all the people dumpin on this team.  Now I have spoke my mind.

ATM a good team, especially on defense.  we always have that secondary meltdown to flip game. we lost on the goal line , maybe got cheated out of one td, but you have to score on first and goal from two. Nobody like atm but they are good this year.

Very frustrating.  CBB puts a lot of emphasis on the mental aspect of the game.  We failed miserably in this game in that area.

ErieHog

Our magic number for any football game is 8.

8 unforced errors or more, we will lose.

Against really talented teams, that number is probably more like 5

-Turnovers
-Penalties negating first downs
-Penalties putting us more than 5 yards behind the chains
-Personal Fouls
-KO out of bounds

Watch a Hog game.  Make a mark for each time these things happen.   You'll note a trend, when we're playing good football vs. when we're not.     We can't afford to make errors and make up for them later.

No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. I noticed that too about our RBs.  This killed our goaline runs as much as anything.  Too many steps.  Too much uncertainty for the RB.

Ole miss is better then T AM
We win tonight If we score in the red zone

We lose to Bama , ole miss , florida.
Rest should win
8-4

Their defense is definitely better, but the secondary is suspect, if you have time to pass. Bama won't let Knight run like that, they'll lose that one for sure, probably Aggie against someone else for another loss.

I don't buy the OM is better than A&M thing.  Offensively?  Sure.  Defensively, no.   They don't get after the QB nearly as well, and have shown that when things go sideways, they don't toughen up.

I don't look for A&M to collapse in the second half of the season this year but I cannot see them beating Alabama.

Another low tier bowl game. Cannot wait!  :puke:

Year four btw and we're still an afterthought in the conference. Year FOUR and we're worse that we were last season.

Not sure it's quite accurate to say there isn't anything wrong with the defense. They gave up 600 yards in the 20 minutes A&M had the ball. Also, gave up 360 rush yards on 10 YPC.

You can't lay this entire game at the feet of the O-line. Late third quarter, Atm pinned on the 1 yard line and they go 94 yards or whatever. After that TD, the tan between the tackles similar to what we would do against the local church league. They spread our back 7 out outside the hashes then ran it right down our throats to close the game and the entire 4th quarter.  We could of had a full first team all American O line and we weren't changing the outcome of this game.  We beat ourselves.  Coaches didn't blow it, a specific player didn't blow it, a specific drive didn't blow it. It was a complete loss full of errors. One to learn from and get ready for bama at home.

I really don't know when the year 4 thing started.  It gets old.  Not every program is a 4 year build.  Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan....yes.  They are probably more of a 2-3 year build.  But Arkansas?  No.  Those teams have tradition, fruitful instate recruiting, etc.  Arkansas is not a national brand like these schools and is a much tougher place to build a program.

When you take a realistic lol at things lossing Kirkland a big blow to this Oline , we had recruiting bust and after 4 years the D is not any better.
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

Shocking prospect, I know.

I've got to agree. The OL was just bad all night. You can definitely question a few of the play calls, but the lack of execution by our OL was the real failure. If this line will ever gel the Hogs will be able to put up points from anywhere on the field.

I agree that the oline needs to improve, but there are 5 offensive lineman.  When the defense brings 7-8, you can't expect 5 to get them all picked up.

Its amazing that people cannt understand that.  They just look for the easiest position to blame and it's almost always the OL. A&M had more in te box than we could block on almost every play the entire game.

We're going to get better as the season rolls along, guys. Alabama and Ole Miss are the biggest challenges ahead; everything else is a winnable game. But even those tough games are at home.

That's just not true. The defense has proven it's better. They had a bad game at times against a well prepared Aggie team. But it's one game. Let's wait and see how the rest of the season goes before making judgements like that.

You are correct.

We gave aTm opportunity after opportunity and finally they broke through.

We could have easily won this game without the bonehead errors (coley)...

When we had to pass (not our game), we could not withstand the rush.

The game could have turned out differently had certain things not happened last night, all of which were self inflicted.

This must now be a learning experience we take forward as we grow.

9-10 wins in the regular season is still very possible.

Last night was a team loss, pure and simple.  It stings, but from the coaches to the players there is a lot of progress that can be made and I feel confident they will make progress.  We lost to a very good team last night and we can play much better than we did.
