Quote-- first-rounders Reuben Foster, Jonathan Allen and O.J. Howard; third-rounders Tim Williams and ArDarius Stewart and fourth-rounder Eddie Jackson -- all came from the same 2013 Crimson Tide recruiting class. Also in that class was third-round pick Alvin Kamara, who transferred to junior college and eventually to Tennessee... Add in 2016 second-rounders Derrick Henry and A'Shawn Robinson, and you have nine NFL draft picks from one class.

Bama's 2013 signing class isn't done yet. There could be up to four more coming next year, as wide receiver Robert Foster, cornerback Anthony Averett, center Bradley Bozeman and offensive lineman Brandon Hill (who's now at UAB) all stand a decent shot of being drafted...

It would mean exactly half of Alabama's 2013 signing class was eventually drafted. The Crimson Tide signed 26 players that year.

It would even surpass Alabama's legendary 2008 signing class, which had 10 players drafted from its ranks. That list consists of first-rounders Julio Jones, Mark Barron, Marcell Dareus, Don'ta Hightower and Mark Ingram; second-rounders Courtney Upshaw and Terrence Cody; fourth-rounder Barrett Jones and seventh-rounders Brad Smelley and Michael Williams. (fellow 2008 signees Robert Lester and Damion Square also made NFL rosters as undrafted free agents).

The 2014 class has also gotten a jump start with 2016 second-rounder Jarran Reed (a junior-college transfer) and 2017 first-rounders Marlon Humphrey and Cam Robinson. But just looking at that class, it doesn't appear to have the high-end depth that the 2008 and 2013 groups did.

Quote2017: Jonathan Kongbo 4*, Darryl Taylor 4*, Kahlil McKenzie 5*, Shy Tuttle 4*

Average star ranking: 4.3

The 2017 D-line received much of the recruiting hype coming out of high school. Some fans got carried away with what McKenzie and Kongbo could bring to the defense. Injuries have hurt this unit, though.

McKenzie played in seven games last season, which forced Kongbo to move from defensive end to defensive tackle.

Tuttle has played well for the Vols, but his constant injuries have kept him from reaching his full potential.

LINEBACKER

2017: Darrien Kirkland 4*, Austin Smith 3*, Cortez McDowell 4*

Average star ranking: 3.6

Injuries took their toll a year ago. Kirkland played only eight games and McDowell played 11. Smith had to redshirt last season with a shoulder surgery.
DEFENSIVE BACK

2007: DeAngelo Willingham 4*, Brent Vinson 4*, Eric Berry 5*, Jonathan Hefney 3*

Average star rating: 4

2017: Shaq Wiggins 4*, Justin Martin 4*, Todd Kelly Jr. 4*, Nigel Warrior 4*

Average star rating: 4

2017 group has not lived up to its billing.

Martin has 29 tackles in two seasons with the Vols and has 0 interceptions.

Warrior came on late for the Vols and has potential to grow.

Kelly led the team in tackles last season with 71 and added 2 interceptions.

Quote25. Cole Cubelic, OL, Homewood

Cubelic was named All-State as a defensive lineman as a junior at Homewood, but settled as a center after signing at Auburn. He is best known as a current analyst for SEC Network and AL.com, and he hosts a radio program, ""The Cube Show," which airs on 730 AM and 103.9 FM-UMP...

24. Anthony Bryant, DL, Sunshine

A mountain of a man at 6-foot-4 and 360 pounds, Bryant dominated on both sides of the ball and earned HS All-American recognition while bulldozing Class 1A competition at tiny Sunshine, which has since closed. He signed with Alabama and later played in the NFL and for seven difference teams from 2005-11.

23. Trey Flowers, DL, Columbia

A two-time All-State player at Columbia in Huntsville, Flowers signed with Arkansas and recorded 190 tackles and 18 sacks during his SEC career. The New England Patriots selected him in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and he has 45 tackles and seven sacks in his NFL career that includes last year's Super Bowl win.

22. Antwan Odom, DL, Alma

21. Ryan Anderson, DL, Daphne

18. Evan Mathis, OL, Homewood

17. Nick Fairley, DL, Williamson

Fairley didn't even start at Williamson until his senior season

16. Marcell Dareus, DL, Huffman

Another late bloomer, he became a recruiting sensation and raced up national recruiting rankings with 117 tackles and 20 sacks as a senior at Huffman

15. Dante Ellington, OL, Colbert County

14. Antonio Coleman, DL, Williamson

11. LaBryan Ray, DL, James Clemens

The state's top prospect in 2016

10. Aaron Sears, OL, Russellville

9. Kenny King, DL, Daphne

6. D.J. Fluker, OL, Foley

Fluker rose to prominence as a sophomore defensive lineman at McGill-Toolen, but a family move and Hurricane Katrina left him in Foley.

5. Reese Dismukes, OL, Spanish Fort

4. Demarco McNeil, DL, Blount

3. Chris Samuels, OL, Shaw

The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Samuels emerged as one of the state's top prospects at now-closed Shaw High in Mobile before going to Alabama and becoming a four-year starter. He won the Outland Trophy and Jacobs Trophy in 1999, when he paved the way for Alabama's SEC title and running back Shuan Alexander's Heisman campaign.

2. Willie Anderson, OL, Vigor

One of the truly elite left tackles ever, Anderson played offensive line at Vigor in the early 1990s, went on to be an All-American at Auburn and a later was a five-time Pro Bowl selection in the NFL.

1. Andre Smith, OL, Huffman

There's a legend that an opposing defensive lineman ran away from Smith during a game during his senior season at Huffman, rather than try to deal with the massive mauler. Smith is the only offensive lineman to every win the Mr. Football award, he became an All-American at Alabama, and he was a first-round NFL draft pick.

QuoteBama has not signed the nation's No. 1 overall prospect in the Nick Saban era. Running back Najee Harris was that on the 247Sports composite for most of the cycle, but dropped below a pair of offensive tackles.

Here, we look at the top 20 highest-rated high school signees for Alabama since the 2008 signing class. All of them are five-star recruits and many five-stars such as Jonah Williams, O.J. Howard and Robert Foster didn't make the cut.

20. LB Mack Wilson (2016 - 15th nationally)
Carver-Montgomery standout had a top three of Alabama, Georgia and Florida. He dropped Florida late after the Gators didn't communicate well with his mother.
6-foot-2, 236-pound Wilson had eight tackles in 15 games.

19. LB Rashaan Evans (2014 - 15th nationally)
Bama edged Auburn, where Evans' father Alan played, in a hotly-contested recruiting battle. The win was sweeter for Alabama after an Auburn signee bio page of Evans was leaked. Evans was a five-star recruit in Auburn's backyard at Auburn High.
Now a senior, Evans is in line to be a full-time starter for the first time in his career.

18. DB D Milliner (2010 - 14th nationally)
Milliner committed to Alabama early in the process over Auburn, Georgia and others. He was the state of Alabama's top prospect in the class of 2009 from Stanhope Elmore.
Milliner had six interceptions in his three-year career at Alabama, leaving after a 2012 All-America season and becoming the No. 9 overall pick by the New York Jets. His NFL career has been a bust.

17. DB Dre Kirkpatrick (2009 - 13th nationally)
Gadsden City tall cornerback committed to Alabama on Signing Day, throwing a Texas hat aside while saying it didn't have enough swag.
Kirkpatrick won two national championships for the Crimson Tide in 2009 and 2011. He was an impact player, earning second team all-SEC honors twice. Kirkpatrick left after three years and was picked No. 17 overall in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Kirkpatrick has nine interceptions and just signed a five-year, $52 million extension. Kirkpatrick was a very good player for Alabama - maybe not quite living up to five-star status

16. LB Dylan Moses (2017 - 13th nationally)
Moses earned a scholarship offer from Nick Saban as an eighth-grader. He was committed to LSU for two years, but backed off that and committed to Alabama on an official visit, not long after LSU fired Les Miles.
Moses is built like a college veteran and enrolled at Alabama for spring practice.

15. Marlon Humphrey (2014 - 12th nationally)
Hoover standout and son of former Crimson Tide and NFL RB Bobby Humphrey.
Humphrey redshirted in 2014, but became an impact player for the Crimson Tide over his two seasons that he played. Humphrey started both seasons and was an All-American pick as a sophomore. He was picked 16th overall in this year's NFL Draft

14. RB Derrick Henry (2013 - 12th nationally)
One-time Georgia commit from Yulee, Fla., switched to Alabama not long after a visit to Tuscaloosa in the summer of 2012.
He was a beast over his last two seasons, rushing for 3,591 yards and 42 touchdowns in his career. Henry's 2,219 yards rushing and 28 touchdowns in 2015 propelled him to the Heisman. Henry broke Shaun Alexander's career rushing record in 2015.

13. WR Calvin Ridley (2015 - 11th nationally)
Ridley committed to Alabama at A-Day 2014 out of Fort Lauderdale
Ridley has lived up to the five-star billing, emerging as the Crimson Tide's go-to receiver as a true freshman when the Tide won the national championship in 2015. This is Ridley's junior year and likely his last as he should be an NFL prospect next spring. Ridley set UA freshman records with 89 receptions for 1,045 yards.

12. LB Ben Davis (2016 - 10th nationally)
Davis' father Wayne is an Alabama legacy, but the Gordo standout took all five of his official visits. Alabama edged out Auburn.
State's top prospect in the 2016 class was forced into a redshirt after injuries affected him. 6-foot-4, 237-pound Davis still has plenty of promise, but is deep into a crowded set of linebackers.

11. DB Tony Brown (2015 - 9th nationally)
Track athlete from Beaumont chose Bama despite many predictions that he would sign with LSU.
Brown's career at Alabama has had its ups and downs, as he was arrested as a true freshman, set [sic] home from bowl practices in 2015 and was suspended for the first four games last season. Brown could start at one cornerback spot this season, his senior year. He had 32 tackles and two interceptions last season.

10. LB Reuben Foster (2013 - 7th nationally)
Foster had plenty of drama, committing to Bama and switching to Auburn. He even got an Auburn tattoo, but chose the Tide after head coach Gene Chizik was fired. Foster played his senior season at Auburn High.
It took two seasons for Foster to blossom at Alabama, but he became one of college football's best linebackers in 2015. He won the Butkus Award for the country's best linebacker in 2016, a year where he earned All-SEC and All-America honors.
Foster had 73 tackles as a junior and 115 as a senior with 13 for loss and five sacks. His NFL Draft stock fell from top 10 to No. 31 overall by the San Francisco 49ers after a positive drug test and injury concerns  8)

9. Landon Collins (2012 - 7th nationally)
Collins, from Dutchtown in Louisiana, announced his commitment to Alabama at the Under Armour All-American game, though his mother visibly disagreed with the choice.
Collins became a starter as a sophomore in 2013 and was an All-American in 2014. He recorded 170 tackles and five interceptions in his career and won one national championship. Collins was an early second-round pick by the New York Giants in 2015, but went to the Pro Bowl last season and is now regarded as one of the top pro safeties

8. DB Hasean HaHa Clinton-Dix (2011 - 7th nationally)
Out of Orlando's Doc Phillips High, Clinton-Dix committed to Bama 10 months before National Signing Day, choosing the Crimson Tide over USC, Florida State, Michigan and several more powers. He signed with fellow five-star D Hart, but had more success at Alabama than Hart ever did.
Clinton-Dix won two national championships and was the starter for most of his sophomore and junior seasons, recording seven interceptions on his career. Clinton-Dix did miss two games due to a suspension in 2013, but was a first-round NFL Draft pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2014 and a Pro Bowler.

7. RB Trent Richardson (2009 - 6th nationally)
Elite Pensacola running back chose Alabama in the summer of 2008 over LSU et al.
Richardson burst onto the scene as a true freshman, backing up Mark Ingram but rushing or 784 yards en route to a national title. Richardson added 719 yards as a sophomore, but ran or 1,740 as a junior and scored 43 career touchdowns. He finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting that year, but helped Alabama to another national champioship. Richardson was drafted No. 3 overall by the Browns in 2012, but is now out of the league and is one of the biggest NFL Draft busts in history.

6. DL Da'Shawn Hand (2014 - 5th nationally)
Hand also committed fairly early from Woodbridge, Va., choosing the Tide when Michigan was perceived as the heavy favorite.
6-foot-4, 288-pound Hand has not yet lived up to the potential bestowed upon him. Rivals had Hand as its No. 1 overall recruit in 2014. But he's also been behind Jonathan Allen and Dalvin Tomlinson in the fight for playing time. This is Hand's last chance as a senior to secure a starting spot and he is the favorite to do so at one end position.
Hand has made an impact when in, recording 21 tackles, 3.5 for loss with two sacks as a junior. But he was recently arrested and charged with DUI.

5. OL Cam Robinson (2014 - 4th nationally)
Our nation's top offensive tackle from West Monroe, left his home state to play for the Tide, committing early in the process. [He worked hard while many sat in air conditioning.]
Robinson became an instant starter at left tackle and was one of college football's best offensive lineman over his three-year college career. He was arrested, but not prosecuted before the 2016 season on marijuana and weapons charges. He won the Jacobs and Outland trophies after the 2016 season and was a second-round NFL Draft pick.

4. OL Alex Leatherwood (2017 - 4th nationally)
The massive tackle from Pensacola, Fla. committed to Alabama before his junior season and stuck with it
Leatherwood enrolled for spring practice and many thought he would secure a starting spot on the offensive line. That has not happened -

3. RB Najee Harris (2017 - 3rd nationally)
Antioch, Calif., star Harris was ranked No. 1 for most of his recruiting process, but dipped slightly after battling injuries as a sophomore. He showed up to the Birmingham airport after the U.S. Army All-American game, spurning a charge from Michigan. He's battling with four other high-profile recruits and two who had most of the carries last year in Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris, but his talent is too good to keep him off the field.

2. WR Julio Jones (2008 - No. 3 nationally)
Jones was the first great recruiting win for Nick Saban at Alabama, even in a very loaded 2008 class. Jones chose Alabama on National Signing Day over Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech. The state hasn't seen any offensive player like the Foley standout since.
Jones started every game he played at during his three-year career, even playing through a broken hand in 2010. He caught 179 passes for 2,653 yards and 15 touchdowns. Jones was a freak of nature at Alabama and continues that path in the NFL. He was picked sixth overall in 2011 by the Atlanta Falcons and has been a four-time Pro Bowler.

1. OL Cyrus Kouandjio (2011 - 2nd nationally)
Hyattsville, Md., five-star Kouandjio announced his commitment to Auburn on National Signing Day, looking uncomfortable [as heck] while doing so. A few days later, he signed with Alabama.
He started in 2012 and 2013 and was one of the top offensive tackles in college football. He was picked No. 44 overall in the second round by the Buffalo Bills.

QuoteTop 20 highest-rated high school signees for Auburn since 2008.
Ten of them were five-star recruits, not including three top-ranked junior college signees. There were 13 more who were ranked in the top 100 high school players or top 5 junior college players in the year they signed missed the cut, including Shon Coleman, Reese Dismukes, Corey Lemonier, Gabe Wright, Braden Smith and Kyle Davis.

20. DT Antwuan Jackson Jr. (2016; 51st nationally)
Jackson picked Auburn over Ohio State, Georgia and Florida and was expected to be a key piece at defensive tackle.
After redshirting in 2016, Jackson chose to transfer this offseason and Gus Malzahn restricted his ability to go elsewhere in the SEC or to Ohio State. He has signed with Blinn CC.

19. QB Kiehl Frazier (2011; 51st nationally)
Frazier was the No. 51 overall player and No. 3 dual-threat quarterback in the country in 2011. Coming out of Shiloh Christian (Ark.), he was thought to be a natural fit to run then-offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn's offense at Auburn, especially after being named USA Today national player of the year.
Frazier won the starting job during fall camp in 2012 but proceeded to have a disastrous season with 753 passing yards, two touchdowns and eight interceptions. He stayed at quarterback the following spring when Malzahn returned as head coach but later moved to defense during fall camp and finished his career at receiver.

18. SDE Elijah Daniel (2013; 49th nationally)
Daniel was the No. 49 overall recruit in 2013 and one of three Under Armour All-Americans to sign with Auburn that year.
Daniel had 23 tackles with 3.5 sacks in two seasons but was dismissed in the spring of 2015 for his part in a robbery of a campus dorm. He transferred to Murray State Mafia

17. WR Nate Craig-Myers (2016; 46th nationally)
At one point the No. 1 overall player, Craig-Myers finished No. 46 overall and No. 7 among wide receivers in the 2016 class.
Craig-Myers had an admittedly disappointing true freshman season with just four catches for 70 yards and one touchdown due in large part to nagging injuries.

16. ATH Kerryon Johnson (2015; 43rd nationally)
Johnson was the third straight Mr. Football to sign with Auburn in 2015.
Through two seasons, Johnson has 1,103 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns and 284 receiving yards for the Tigers. He enters 2017 as the No. 2 running back.

15. SDE Marlon Davidson (2016; 31st nationally)
The younger brother of former Auburn defensive lineman Ken Carter.
Davidson was a major contributor as a true freshman, with 38 tackles including six for loss and 2.5 sacks with four pass breakups.

14. QB Cam Newton (2010; 3rd JUCO nationally)
Newton was a former highly-touted quarterback recruit when he signed at Florida in 2007 and was the No. 3 junior college player in 2010. The JUCO ranking is what has Newton ranked behind Auburn's five-star high school signees over the past decade.Newton led Auburn to the 2010 BCS National Championship, won the Heisman Trophy and set numerous Auburn records before becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. [There was some controversy including a one-day suspension during his time there.]

13. WR D'haquille Williams (2014; 1st JUCO nationally)
No. 1 junior college player in the country in 2014, D'haquille Williams chose Auburn over in-state LSU.
After posting 45 catches for 730 yards and five touchdowns in 2014, which ended with Williams suspended for the Outback Bowl following an altercation at a bar, Williams was expected to be a major contributor as a senior in 2015.
LaPlace, Louisiana native had just 12 catches for 147 yards and one score before he was dismissed on Oct. 5, 2015 following another bar fight in which he broke the jaw of teammate Xavier Dampeer.

12. QB Jarrett Stidham (2017; 1st JUCO nationally)
Former Baylor quarterback went to McLennan C.C. last year but did not play. The top-ranked junior college player in our nation was recruited by Auburn for months and chose the Tigers in Dec. 2016 and arrived on campus shortly thereafter.
Stidham was the first-team quarterback during spring practice while Sean White was recovering from a broken forearm. The Stephenville, Texas native is heavily favored to win the starting job.

11. RB Jovon Robinson (2015; 1st JUCO nationally)
Robinson originally signed with Auburn in 2012 but a grade-changing scandal involving his [Memphis-area] guidance counselor forced him to go to junior college. He eventually signed with the Tigers again in 2015, when he was the No. 1 junior college player in the country.
After injuries hampered the first half of his 2015 season, Robinson rushed for 639 yards and three touchdowns with five 90-plus yard outings in the final six games, including 126 yards and a score in the Birmingham Bowl.
The following offseason was checkered with incidents, first with teammate Marshall Taylor that left the graduate transfer defensive back injured and later with a female student. Robinson denied wrongdoing in both matters but was dismissed on the first day of camp in 2016.

5-star club
Since 2008, Auburn has signed 10 five-star high school prospects.

10. ILB Tre' Williams (2014; 29th nationally)
Williams was a cornerstone of the '14 recruiting class, of which he was a designated leader. He was among several Mobile area players to sign with Auburn.
In three seasons, Williams has 138 tackles with 7.5 for loss and one sack. He is projected to start at middle linebacker for the second straight season.

9. OT Calvin Ashley (2017; 27th nationally)
Ashley was the earliest commitment to the '17 class, doing so in May 2015.
Ashley is on campus and expected to compete for playing time as a true freshman.

8. ATH Trovon Reed (2010; 24th nationally)
Reed spent his first three seasons at wide receiver, where he had 39 catches for 384 yards and a touchdown, before moving to cornerback as a senior and had 12 tackles with three interceptions.

7. RB Roc Thomas (2014; 23rd nationally)
Oxford running back Racean "Roc" Thomas was the second straight Alabama Mr. Football to commit to Auburn in 2014, following Jeremy Johnson
Thomas had 43 carries in both his freshman and sophomore seasons for a total of 475 yards and three touchdowns.
Injuries led him to drop from starter to No. 3 on the depth chart in 2015 behind Peyton Barber and Jovon Robinson, who was in line to start in 2016 and part of what led Thomas to transfer to Jacksonville State.

6. WDE Carl Lawson (2013; 21st nationally)
Lawson stuck with his commitment to Auburn amid a coaching chance after the 2012 season and was ranked as high as the No. 2 overall prospect by ESPN in 2013.
Injuries plagued Lawson's college career, with a torn ACL sidelining him in 2014 and a hip injury knocking him out for half of 2015. But he got through 2016 healthy and had 30 tackles with 14 for loss including 9.5 sacks en route to being a 4th-round pick by the Bengals.

5. DT Montravius Adams (2013; 10th nationally)
Adams announced his commitment on National Signing Day and became one of three Under Armour All-Americans along the defensive line to sign with Auburn in '13.
Adams finished his career with 147 tackles with 19.5 for loss and 10.5 sacks, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. His senior season was the best of his career and he was a third-round pick.

4. OT Christian Westerman (2011; 10th nationally)
Westerman was the No. 10 overall player in '11 and a major piece of Auburn's class. After redshirting in 2011, Westerman made one start in 2012 before transferring to ASU.

3. DT Derrick Brown (2016; 9th nationally)
Brown was the gem of Auburn's '16 class and the No. 1 player in the state of Georgia.Brown has 11 tackles with one sack and a fumble recovery as a true freshman. He is competing for a starting job at defensive tackle in 2017.

2. RB Michael Dyer (2010; 8th nationally)
Dyer was the No. 8 overall player and No. 1 running back in 2010.
Dyer had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and in 2010 and 2011 and his run in the BCS National Championship game will live in Auburn lore. He was later dismissed and went to Arkansas State, where he was also dismissed, and finished his college career at Louisville.

1. SDE Byron Cowart (2015; 3rd nationally)
Cowart was the No. 1 overall recruit in the country for most of 2015 before finishing No. 3. His commitment on National Signing Day was marred be drama as his NLI did not get faxed to Auburn for hours and speculation ran rampant about in-state Florida.Cowart has just six tackles in each of his first two seasons at Auburn, with just one for loss. He has moved from end to tackle with the hopes of being more effective in 2017.
