If the pitcher is responsible for an error, do the runs count as earned or unearned?  Seems like they should count as earned runs.

I believe they are counted as "un"earned.  I also feel the same as you.  If the pitcher makes an error and that run scores it is "his" fault.  I understand the scoring if another player makes an error, but not the pitcher.
