According to sources Bob Stoops was wining and dining (if one can call treating someone to a burger as such) current TCU co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie in Norman, Ok yesterday. Speculation is that "Big Game" might be seriously courting one of the architects of TCU's hugely improved offense in an attempt to hire Cumbie as OU's new OC. If so it would likely make good sense given the major improvement in the Horn Frog's offensive output this past season. For instance, the team moved from the #88 spot in scoring offense to finish #3 in the country; their passing attack improved from #73 to #7. They also made a huge gain in total offense finishing #5 in the country versus 106th in 2013.

A major potential drawback, however, might be that despite his position at TCU he's still never been the actual main play caller at either of his two previous coaching stops. He deferred to Doug Meacham at TCU. At Texas Tech, where he also played QB, he relied on Kliff Kingsbury to have the final say.

Perhaps ole Stoops has decided the idea of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" might just work and hopes that he'd obviously prefer to eliminate a potential thorn for his defense going forward. It should be interesting to see how this might unfold.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
