As long as the NBA continues to allow one and done's we'll never see TEAMS as good as those in the 90's. The best players that should be in college and would have been in the 90's are now on NBA floors.
The NBA is killing the quality of the college game.

and the nba game as well.

Not sure how you judge popularity, but has been a weak league since Jordan left

I should revise my original post to say since the mid-90s. I agree with your Jordan statement. However, the tv ratings and attendance to games are higher in the last few years than they have been in about 20 years. There is a lot of great talent in the league. There are not a lot of great teams like you saw in the 80s and 90s, but there is not a lack of individual talent. Too many hate the NBA to admit it, but we have some special players in the league that we may not see that type of talent for another 15-20 years. Steph Curry, Lebron, and Durant to name a few. Steph may be the best shooter of all time when it is all said and done.

The NBA is overall a lot more popular than it was in the Jordan Era. Even though they don't have that one superstar like Jordan was, Kobe and LeBron draw a lot of viewers by comparison.

Its gone from a league that could barely manage one TV contract on basic networks, to one with a much broader viewership,  a subsidiary league, a special cable network of its own,  and major TV deals with multiple platforms.

The quality of play is arguably as high as it has *ever* been;   almost all NBA critics who promote the line of 'it hasn't been good since Jordan left',  haven't watched it since John Starks was a major figure in the NBA.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I like the NBA more now than I once did. My hope is they do away with the guaranteed contract.

True of a lot of sports due to the proliferation of networks.
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.

I loathe the NBA.

If not for the Grizzlies, I couldn't care less.  Those guys are class.

Spurs are arguably the best organization in the nba, if not all professional sports.

Haven't watched since the late 90s then?

I seriously wonder when the last time some of you people watched an NBA game was.

Such ugly, selfish,  isolation basketball....

What thuggish,  terrible players.

And the Knicks and Wizards continue to play down to the worst expectations...

Yet, when asked about the 'Golden Ages of Basketball',  people conveniently don't mention the quality of play of the  '86 Kings or   '93 Timberwolves.....

I remember when championship game was on tape delay after the news at 1030pm   NBA is more popular now especially around the globe.  I enjoy watching but only if the game really means something

bigredone

I watched the 30 for 30 about the Bad Boys of Detroit. That was near the end of the real NBA. That was when it was still a team game instead of nothing but one star. I try to watch a little each new season but there is nothing there for me. To be fair the NFL is no better to me.

The college game is getting worse the more NBA like it gets. I like the defense creating offense which is what they are trying to stop with new rules and interpretations.

What?

The NBA has rarely been more team oriented than it is now.    This isn't 2001.

Erie is right   and LeBron is one of the most "team" players around   if you surrounded him with shooters and scorers he would lead the NBA in assists like Wilt did one year   By the way Erie remember when I said Shabazz was a wasted draft choice by the Wolves and you hotly disagreed    well you were right he is becoming a really good wing player.

Your memory is better than mine, if you remember me defending a pretty sketchy, in hindsight, pick.    I was sold on his upside, I guess-- but that's more a case of being lucky, than right, TBH.  I'll still take it, though!
