Whas up with the white stripes? Just practice helmets or a change for this year?

theFlyingHog

IIRC the stripes help coaches see on film where the players are looking. I believe only people around the ball have them, ie, linemen don't.

Correct. Mainly LB's and DB's.

I believe that was something Coach Rhoads started when he first got here to help get the DBs on track with when and where they look.

The top picture is of RB Maleek Williams. Bottom solo picture (not Olajabutu tackle) is TJ Hammonds.  They also have the stripe on tailbacks and skill position guys. It's for the same reason as the defensive guys.  In the RBs case, it's don't be looking where you're headed before the ball is snapped.

You can tell its just tape on that 2nd picture. It bubbles up slightly on the side
That's right, you don't want to be the man to replace the man.  You want to be the man to replace Rory Segrest.

Maleek Williams reminds me of Edgerrin James

I've heard that too but wouldn't the facemask indicate the same thing?

The stripes help the coaches tell where the players are looking.

From certain angles. I asked coach B and they have software that picks it up automatically and shows angles
