  • Kentucky basketball has finalized its 2017-18 nonconference schedule

Eight of the Wildcats 13 opponents Kansas, UCLA, Louisville, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Vermont, Troy and East Tennessee State reached the NCAA Tournament last season

We are going to have what could be the youngest team in the history of college basketball, UK coach John Calipari said in a school-issued news release. Of his 11 scholarship players, three are sophomores and eight are freshmen. We had to take that into account when building this years schedule. How do we prepare our guys to be at our best at the end of the season which weve done nearly every year "

Six home games three each in November and December and four road [sic] challenges anchor the Georgia Bulldogs 2017-18 non-conference schedule...

Georgia is among the eight-team field which also includes Cal State Fullerton, DePaul, Harvard, Saint Josephs, Saint Marys, San Diego State and Washington State. Games will be played on Thursday, Nov. 23; Friday, Nov. 24; and Sunday, Nov. 26.

Georgia will then face Marquette in Milwaukee on Saturday, Dec. 2 before returning to Stegeman to host Winthrop on Tuesday, Dec. 5. Kentucky plays four Top 25 teams -- Kansas, Virginia Tech, UCLA, & Louisville -- before New Year's. Tall task for inexperienced roster.

Helpful to SEC teams' RPI -- doubly so for those who play UK twice.

NCAA Selection Committee to put greater emphasis on road wins -

Team sheets will now be divided into home games against teams ranked in the RPI Top 30, neutral court games against teams ranked in the RPI Top 50 and road games against teams ranked in the RPI Top 75. Previously, team sheets only took into account games against RPI Top 50 teams, regardless of location.

Gators will play at least three non-conference games against teams that finished in the RPI Top 15 last season (Florida State, Cincinnati, Baylor) and could play up to five RPI Top 15 teams if they face Gonzaga in the second game of the PK80 Tournament and Duke in the third game in Portland. Clemson will be another RPI Top 100 opponent (75), while Stanford (105), New Hampshire (125) Loyala-Chicago (184) and Gardner-Webb (188) are RPI Top 200 teams.

Last season, Florida played its first 11 games away from campus (8 neutral court and 3 road games) due to the OConnell Centers renovation. In the regular season, the Gators went 10-3 in the non-conference schedule and 24-7 overall, helping UF land a four-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Looking at UF's non-conf sked, Gators could play at least three RPI Top 15 teams and up to five if they face 'Zags, Duke in Portland.

    RPIs of rest of UF non-conf sked -- Clemson (75), Stanford (105), New Hampshire (125), Gardner-Webb (184), Loyola-Chicago (188) ...

RPI Top 15 teams Gators will face for sure are FSU (15), Cincinnati (12) and Baylor (9)

How about this six-day stretch for Alabama in December? UCF (12/3), Rhode Island (12/6), at Arizona (12/9). That's how you build a resume.

Bulldogs added much-needed muscle to the 2018-19 non-conference schedule by adding mid-major power Dayton for a home-and-home series. The addition of the Flyers to the non-conference slate is a big step toward building a more respectable schedule as MSU basketball continues its long march back to respectability.

Commodores could face nine teams who advanced to postseason play last season.

7-18 Vanderbilt mens basketball non-conference schedule has been set, and the Commodores, who played the number one strength of schedule in 2016-17, are at it again in 2017-18, with nine of their potential games against teams who played in the postseason a year ago.  Six possible opponents, USC, Rhode Island, Seton Hall, Virginia, Kansas State, and Middle Tennessee, all played in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, with NIT participant Belmont, 2017 NIT Champion TCU, and Tournament team UNC Asheville also on the challenging slate.

The Commodores will play nine of their non-conference games in Memorial Gym, including games against Pac 12 member USC, Big 12 members Kansas State and TCU, and 2017 Conference USA champion Middle Tennessee.

Vanderbilts two true road games will come against Belmont at the Curb Center on November 13 and at Arizona State on December 17.

Commodores Thanksgiving tournament takes them to Brooklyn, N.Y., and the Barclays Center for the NIT Season Tip-Off, with potential games against Rhode Island, Seton Hall, or Virginia, all teams that advanced to the 2017 NCAA Tournament.  The bracket for the tournament in Brooklyn has not been released.  Home games against Austin Peay and UNC Asheville will also be a part of the NIT Season Tip-Off.

"We need one more game and we need that game on Dec. 19," Pearl said. "We are really trying to finish with that last one. It could be home, it could be on the road, it could be neutral. That's the date we need to play. It's where it fits in the schedule and we still, believe it or not, still have a few options."

Auburn has announced eight non-conference games, including four neutral site games, with three at the Charleston Classic and one against Middle Tennessee at the BJCC in Birmingham. There are also home games with UConn, UAB and George Mason and a road game at Dayton.

Pearl has been trying to schedule a Power 5 team, even for a road game, and that is still on the table for this last opening.

"Of course we have UConn and Dayton and the tournament (in Charleston), as far as our power conference teams," Pearl said. "Could this one be? It could be."
