Andy Kennedy/Ole Miss tap into a wealth of long, versatile 2019 guard talent at Olive Branch

It didn't take high-major programs long to realize the abundance of young talent residing inside Olive Branch's gym.

Antavion Collum and D.J. Jefferies - two 6-foot-6 guards from the class of 2019 - picked up their first SEC offers from Ole Miss a few weeks ago. Both aren't old enough to have contact with college coaches but were informed about through Olive Branch coach Eric Rombaugh.

Still, the excitement of being on the radar of a major Division I program serves as motivation for both.

"It's a start," Collum said. "I'm not thinking about my recruitment that much right now since I'm a freshman but I'd like to get offered by Kentucky, North Carolina, schools like that."

The Rebels were the second offer for Jeffries, who also has Memphis and Southeast Missouri on his offer sheet.

Prior to the start of their high school basketball careers, the duo became known commodities on the AAU circuit. Both played for the Memphis Warriors AAU team up until 8th grade before heading their separate ways: Jeffries with Team Thad on the Under Armour Circuit and Collum with EYBL's We All Can Go...

PHILADELPHIA -- On Sunday morning at the Elevate HoopS Summer Showdown, there was an early treat: a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer by Team Rio's 2019 guard Bryan Antoine.

Team Rio edged Team Final at the hands of Antoine -- and his teammate Scottie Lewis -- 63-60.

The 2019 star guard duo displayed all of their talents in front of a hefty crowd that featured the head coach of national champion Villanova, Jay Wright, along with Indiana coach Tom Crean, N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried, Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard and Maryland assistant Bino Ranson.

Antoine finished with a team-high 22 points and Lewis poured in 12 in the victory.

Both guards have been the topic of conversation this summer as strong performances on the circuit and at camps continue to raise their profiles.

Lewis is fresh off a stand out performance at the Under Armour All-America camp, where Evan Daniels of Scout and Jeff Goodman of ESPN proclaimed Lewis among the top players at the event.

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- Led by the tandem of Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine, the Team Rio 16U squad played for an Under Armour Finals championship on Saturday after knocking off Team Thad on Friday night behind 22 points from Antoine.

Against Sports U, they came up short, 50-47, in the championship on Sautrday.

"I'm going to be honest with you," Antoine said. "Whenever any coach comes up and watches our game I'm usually pretty chill. But when coach Cal [John Calipari] came up, not going to lie, Jalen Gaffney and I saw him come up to watch us, that was the first time I've ever been starstruck by a coach."

When asked if having high level coaches like that come out and watch him play, Lewis says that it's just motivation, knowing that he's doing the right things.

"As far as my work ethic is concerned, it definitely has," Lewis said. "It means that all of the work that we have put in together, it means that we are on the right track. We are taking our training to the next level, and we are looking forward to seeing where that goes."

With hundreds of coaches watching their games over the past couple days and Calipari watching on Thursday night, Team Director Brian Klatsky said that Kentucky as well as Duke have said that they will keep tabs on both Lewis and Antoine.

"They have both reached out during the season," Klatsky said. "They both said they have their eyes on them. Kentucky was here [Thursday] and [Friday] It's so early in the process, we are just trying to keep them grounded. Helping them doing really well in school. Most programs aren't looking at rising sophomores, so we are just trying to keep them focused."

Hazel Green 2019 guard Kira Lewis tweeted this afternoon that he has received an offer from Alabama.

"I was very excited (with the offer) coming from a guy like Avery Johnson," Lewis told

Alabama assistants Antoine Pettway and John Pelphrey visited the 6-foot-3 Lewis last week.

"(They said) that they are changing the culture in basketball," Lewis said. "Also that they have the best recruiting class coming into the 2017 year, so that backs up their statement."

Lewis picked up an Auburn offer last September. Tigers coach Bruce Pearl visited Lewis on Wednesday.

"He was talking about how they could see me playing in their style," Lewis said. "Also how they do things down there at Auburn."

Lewis is rated four stars and the No. 11 point guard in the nation for the Class o' '19
