The tired "too bad Calipari doesn't care about championships" and "too bad he doesn't win more" NBA Draft night takes remain totally absurd.

Indiana has waived guard Monta Ellis, league sources tell The Vertical.

Ellis originally committed to State and later decided to bypass college and enter the draft and was taken by the Warriors in '05.

  • A call to wish Hall of Famer Frank Ramsey a happy 86th birthday on Thursday found him at work as president of the Dixon Bank.

    Quote
I dont know what the hell Id do if I wasnt working, Ramsey said. When youre my age, you look forward to going to work.

Ramsey played for UKs 1951 national championship team and the only unbeaten team in program history (1953-54). He cited good genes as a reason for his longevity. His mother lived until the age of 101, he said. Except for his father, who died at 72, other relatives lived into their 80s and 90s.

I hope I have it in my genes, he said, but, hey, I dont make any long-range plans.

UK Athletics Hall of Fame started in 2005. There is a five-year waiting period...

  • Would know.

    Quote
I definitely think we would win, Randle said Saturday at his UK basketball camp. I dont think it would really be a challenge. I think Kentucky just has too many stars that come out of here, too many good players. Im never gonna say Im gonna lose.

Randle could add depth to the starting five and players like DeMarcus Cousins, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Devin Booker, Jamal Murray, Rajon Rondo, Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight, Patrick Patterson, Trey Lyles, DeAaron Fox and Malik Monk would all be available.

The idea would be to pit a Kentucky alumni squad against a current NBA super team in an exhibition game. Who wouldnt want to watch?

While they all played at UK and could've played together, few if any did play together.

*Dan Issel was involved in an ABA, NBA situation in which the NBA was certain he would go with the Kentucky ABA franchise prior to the draft.
