Tiger High keeps getting top 10 players by the droves. and we cant get any. something is wrong here and i believe i know what it is. Tiger High is cheating their butts off through Fed-X. and the Ncaa has no intrest in busting them. as they dont with Reggie Bush and USC. yet they attacked and killed our basketball program when we had it going. it makes me sick.

Hogbody

What was it that happened with like the Head of Fedex that was a Memphis alum?  I cant remember.

The Realist

I posted on here back in February what is really going on and how I obtained the information.
It's called the Fedex "intern" program.  That is how they legally do it.  And by it, I mean give over $20k in cash to every player annually along with the car of their choice.

Nothing happen. just like nothing happen when former Memphis play Shawn williams said he recieved almost 40,000 dollars while he was at memphis. and it came from a memphis booster. yet the Ncaa did nothing. they are getting away with chating over there.

I was going to say, a former player or recruit should step up and say something.

Sigh...I guess nothing will happen then.

Nothing will happen until the Ncaa stop having programs they love like Memphis basketball and Usc football. they have both programs dead to right. yet they are doing nothing about it. instead, they take 2 track championships from our track program. yea we did wrong in track. but they never proved the people in charge knew about it.yet they threw the book at us. the cheating at Memphis is unreal.yet nothing.

chortle

Hell, can we not have the Wal-Mart intern program? Or the Tyson chicken program?

It's not like there isn't money in NWA.

I believe like most hawg fans that we want to win the right way. i dont want to cheat to win.plus when arkansas so much as buy a player a coke. here comes the big bad Ncaa knocking. it's sickening.

Well crap, I bought Matt Jones some coke.

Calipari has turned Memphis into a NBA factory. These top-flight talents these days want one thing and one thing only, money and NBA stardom. Memphis offers a big time arena to playin, it's a bigger media market. Honestly, I would prefer Pelphrey to place a higher priority on kids who will be in school for at least 3 years. That's how you build a program.

3kgthog

Pretty common knowledge, at least based on several rumors backed up by some facts, that Duke and Memphis are two of the dirtiest basketball programs behind the scenes. Don't you Dookie lovers start trying to claim Coach K is clean either. Several credible investigative news sources have dug up stuff on them from Carlos Boozer's dad moving from Alaska and getting a cushy job with a local pharmaceutical company to Chris Duhon's mom getting the same treatment.

But back to Tiger High, wasn't it 3-4 years ago some Memphis players had their apartment or car broken into and several fur coats and some jewels were stolen?

Brass Knob

I imagine there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes at every major college program.  However, Memphis as of late is playing late into March, they run an offense that is designed to accentuate a single stud guard, and the atmosphere in the FedEx forum is pretty amazing.... The school offers a lot more than people give it credit for.

today when Darr got the winning hit me and some buddies went nuts in my living room, and we even dogpiled in the floor. well, I ended up on bottom and my dog, who doesn't like anybody anyways, thought I was being attacked. so the dog rushes and bites my friend from behind right in the sack! he pissed all over himself and another guy whose face was right below his shorts. They get into a fight and end up shattering the front storm door on my house. After this we all just kind of stopped, as the wife was totally pissed. so we went outside and called the hogs. what a day! I just WPS!

Wonder what sanctions will be placed on SC after the RB investigation ends? Sounds like they violated everything in the book. If I had been offered a scolarship by SC, I kinda would like to know how severe a penalty they will be looking at. Among other violations, they are credited with:

Round-trip airfare from San Diego to Oakland
Limousine transportation from the Oakland airport
Suits for Bush's stepfather and brother
Weekly payments of at least $1,500 to the Bush family
Hotel stay by Bush at the Venetian Resort & Casino in Las Vegas
A stay by Bush at the Manchester Hyatt in San Diego
Approximately $13,000 to Bush from New Era to purchase and modify a car
$54,000 in rent-free living for a year at Michaels' $757,500 home in Spring Valley, Calif.
$28,000 from Michaels to help Bush's family settle pre-existing debt,
Thousands of dollars in spending money to both Bush and his family from the prospective agents.

I can't even amagine what the penalty would be if the U of A was guilty of any one of these violations.

That's only for Bush.  There's a lot more other stuff going on there, and it starts with the AD and his assistants.

This has been hidden on the back-burner so well that the blue-chips keep flowing in.  One would think with this hanging out there that UCLA would be a prime position to snap the west coast stars up, but nothing has changed to this point.

I have to agree, if there's one thing I can't stand it's chaters! >:(  ;)

Seriously though, I would expect new NCAA rules that will close the loopholes that allow college athletes to receive such obvious "special treatment".
It gives schools like Memphis an unfair advantage in the recruitment of college athletes.

All that crap aside, the single thing that REALLY chaps my @$$ is long before FedEx ever established their home base in Memphis it was rumored that they originally wanted to put their business' hub in Little Rock, but were turned down by Little Rock's Chamber of Commerce. :(

Just think, it could be the UofA handing out $20,000.00 a year internships to induce potential recruits to the UofA.

The real argument is why we couldn't land a big name coach that could immediately bring in blue chip prospects on his and our programs name alone.

No offense to Pelphrey but it's going to be a while. And if you don't think we offer under the table stuff, you are pretty delusional.

Because no "big name" coach wanted the job.

And not every school cheats to get players.  Unless you have some proof, then your comment is just an opinion of yours.

Thank you captain obvious. That still doesn't answer the question of WHY no one wanted the job. Which is really why we should be arguing about.

I thought we got through the "poor old Arkansas" crap when Houston left. Regardless if Memphis is cheating, they're obviously doing a good job or not doing it at all. Why would the NCAA bust Indiana, Arkansas, Michigan, SMU and hopefully USC in the future among others and let Memphis slide?

Is it not plausible the fact that Memphis being in the title game last year might happen to help their recruiting? Or the fact that John Calipari has ALWAYS been able to recruit(dirty or not). We can whine all we want but we still have an undersized/inexperienced team,an unproven coach and a sub par recruiting class. All the while Memphis will probably add John Wall to their retarded class.

We should being worrying about why we're losing battles for AJ Walton, Favors and Stephenson rather than what Memphis is doing.

I don't know, I don't claim to know. I have an idea that it had something to with Frank's ineptitude, but I just don't understand how even Tom Crean would turn US down, with all the talent we had coming back, and then the next year go to Indiana and take over that mess. Not to mention the whole Dana Altman ordeal. The whole thing was alzheimers personified.

Too many questions haven't been answered for me to be worrying about Memphis is all I am saying.

I've got a feeling that the mess on the hill was equal to that of Indiana.  The only difference is that our mess involved the AD i.e. his future boss.  Honestly I'm surprised anybody came.

I could not agree more.  Memphis is going to do what they do.  The University of Arkansas (much less it's fans) is not going to be able to punish Memphis in any way.

Besides we weren't even in the running for the Henry kid.  We are losing recruiting battles to the likes of Baylor (Walton), OSU (Gulley), and UAB (Cousins).  Yes something is wrong FCJ and it may involve Memphis but it also includes some things that we aren't doing.

I am glad to see that some fans on here live in reality.... Memphis is not the reason we do not get top tier recruits or why our program is struggling.  There is a lot going on behind the scenes but do not be delusional and think Arkansas stays completely clean while every other program "cheats".  Arkansas' problem is not Memphis, all of the UofA's problems are absolutely internal.

Im telling you folks, tiger high is not getting all these players because Cal is their coach. there are things that are going on that's aided them in this. money, cars and jobs going to players, family and friends.it's unreal what they are getting away with. over here in eastern arkansas, there have been rumors for years about what fed-x has been doing.yet they are getting away with it.
