thats just dumb.  I can't believe anyone would carry a gun to someones house over an argument about a game.

and why did the LSU fan call the Bama fan??

webbgem

I wonder if the words Nick Saban came up during the argument.........

how tragic.

You can almost chart the decline of a society in relation to it's rise of sports fanaticism.

it's not that important folks.

jonesark™

wow......sometimes I think we forget it is a GAME!! There are more important things in life.....

hamsam

If they are that stupid...well, you get the idea, right?

what the heck is it with those bama fans?  a couple of years ago a guy shot his son for asking for a new car... Yep, right after the Tide just lost a football game...
A new era has begun in Fayetteville

i am glad people don't die when we lose otherwise there would be alot of dead people.

Brownie Tuggle

It's a sad day in Zumunda! Only in Alabama. Having lived in southern Alabama I dont find this that shocking. A father shot his son a few years back when Matt Jones pulled off a Comeback win for the Hogs. The son cut the TV off while in the final minutes. The dad shot him after he found out Bama had lost!
Evergreen, Alabama! Conecuh County...... it's some real winners in that town. Brewton Alabama in Escambia County aint no better!!! Both are hot little towns! Atmore (Da Dirty Thirty), Bay Minette, Monroeville, Flomaton, East Brewton!!! just plain stupid.

JIMMY BOARFFETT

I can't help but wonder if either of the parties involved ever even attended college, much less LSU and Alabama.
My sources are unreliable, but their information is fascinating.

Being a fan of a team and calling them your own is like common law marriage.  You have to have 3 things

1.  Beer Koozie with your team logo on it.  Bottom ring pulled out.
2.  3 team logo stickers/decals on your vehicle.
3.  Message Board account.

They're in.  Simple as that.  No degree needed.

Yep, a few year's ago Arkansas beat Alabama and a Bama fan shot his step son with a shotgun over the loss.

The Smiths (who's dead now) went to Williams home. Investigators said Smith had a pistol and Williams had a shotgun and fired. Donna Smith was a relative of Williams' girlfriend.

Sounds like Williams ran a goalline self defense to me.  7pm that's about the time the game was over right?  People especially in Alabama get so worked up in the heat of the moment.

Imagine that, two LSU fans (LSU fans being notorious for lacking class) call an Alabama fan AFTER A LOSS, start talking schit AFTER THEY LOST, and then drive to the Bama fans house and get two tickets to a funeral home.

Just proves the gene pool in Alabama was increased a little on Saturday.
Have you ever listened to someone  or read what they put into thoughts and wondered...."who ties your shoelaces for you?"

Back in 2000 or 2001, a group of bama fans beat and killed an auburn fan out side the stadium after one of the iron bowls as well.

SteveInArk

Wow... that is sad and scary.  When you read the article, it was reported that the victims (husband/wife) went to the shooter's house with a pistol, after a phone argument.  The shooter shot them with his shotgun.

Doubt this one will be an open and shut case, if those facts hold up.  Probably fall somewhere between murder and self-defense, or BOTH.  Female victim was a relative of the shooter's girlfriend.

Simple for Mr. Smith.... why two shots and taking out Mrs. Smith...  doesn't sound so simple to me.

Rural Alabama is all we really need to read in to this.

Point made, and I agree.  Sadly there are bad apples everywhere that ruin it for the rational fans.  On the other hand, it does seem that there are far more of these "WTH?" incidents that happen in alabama.

Was this the game when the Bama kicker tried to commit suicude afterwards?  Squeezed the trigger and missed wide left.

I'm sure the argument started over the game.  I've got a strong suspicion that it escalated over which school had the best float in the annual "Incest Day Parade".

Regardless of whether alcohol was involved, dumbasses from Alabama and Louisiana were involved, so that clears things up for me.

It is just a game after all. It's fun to watch and talk Football, Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose.
it's not worth killing or being killed over. Sometimes I really worry about the world that I've brought my son into.

And IMO the fact that 2 people are dead is no laughing matter.

Insane! Not shocking that it's a loser from Alabamer that shot a backwoods swamp-Britney Spears lovin-corndog eatin-trailer trash Louisiana State fan though. Makes you wonder if one of them said something derogatory about Sarah Palin!

It's hilarious that the ignorant posters come out in full force when something like this is reported. True charachter comes out when a tragic event occurs and people love to throw ridiculous insults towards two fanbases.

This was an isolated case in a small town in rural Alabama between people who knew one another.

For the record:

There was no LSU fan involved in this tragic event.

"My brother was an adamant Alabama fan," said Shannon Odom, half-brother of Dennis Smith, who was killed along with his wife, Donna Hall Smith.

As I've said before, I have lived in AL on numerous occasions over the years.  Bama represents the State while Auburn represents what Bama fans consider "rich" white folks.  Notice I stated Bama "fans", not graduates.  There is a distinction.

Most Bama fans have never stepped foot on a college campus.  The Tide is their State team and the only thing they can relate to.  RABID FANS!

If Arkansas wins a National Championship within the next few years.  RABID FANS!  Think about it.
