MANSFIELD — After just two runs on four hits through four innings, the Farmington Lady Cardinals finally found their offense in the last two innings, scoring 11 runs on 10 hits to post a 13-3 run-rule victory over Mansfield in the semifinals of the 4 AAA District Tournament on Monday at Lady Tiger Field.

Farmington (24-3) will face third-seeded Waldron today at 4:30 p.m. in the championship game. Waldron surprised second-seeded Booneville 5-4 in Monday's late game.

When leadoff batter Emma Bottorff began the bottom of the first inning with a home run off the very first pitch she saw, it looked like just another easy afternoon for the Lady Cardinals. Then Farmington had 16 batters go to the plate over the next three innings and only manufactured one run. But that all changed in the bottom of the fifth when 12 batters went to the plate and the Lady Cardinals put an end to the 2-2 tie "We waited four innings before we sat back and were patient," said Farmington coach Randy Osnes. "[Mansfield pitcher Lindsey Dorrough] was putting in the zone and throwing it up there around 50-52 [miles an hour] and it took us a little while to get our timing down."

Mansfield actually took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second when Christa Clark led off with a triple and scored on single by Datia Dorrough who later scored on a groundout by Brittany Jones.

Farmington tied the score in the bottom of the third when Bottorff received a one-out walk, stole second and scored on a slap single to right by Dara Clark.

Farmington big fifth inning began when Amber McCash reached on an error. Bottorff then singled before Clark cleared the bases with a home run to deep center field for a 5-2 lead. Danielle Dirks started it over again with the first of three straight triples, the last two by Amber Drain and Bailey Harp getting RBIs for a 7-2 lead.

Whitney McKee then delivered a one-out single to plate Harp and Tasha Walker reached on a sin- gle. A wild pitch scored McKee and a single by Bottorff scored Walker to make it 10-2.

The Lady Tigers scored their final run in the top of the sixth as Lindsey Dorrough reached on an error and later scored on a wild pitch to cut the gap to 10-3.

But the Lady Cardinals ended the contest in the bottom of the sixth on three straight hits. Dirks led off with her second triple and scored on a single by Amber Drain. Then Harp followed with a two-run, walk-off home run for the 13-3 lead.

Bottorff and Harp led the Farmington attack with three hits each. Bottorff also scored three times while Harp had three RBIs. Abby Hutchins went the distance on the mound to pick up the win, striking out six along the way.
