Even though I'm an OIF vet, I stand in awe of the Vietnam guys,  What they lived through, and came back to is something those of us wearing the uniform, thankfully, cant even begin to fathom.

I have never served in the military, but want to remember my mom, who was an Army nurse in WWII, serving in the Persian Gulf and aboard hospital ships after the war ended.  She died this year.  I think that period of her life was wonderful.

That was the CE hooch wasn't it?  We were soooooooooooo jealous of your hooch!

WPS

Chris

Joint effort between the AWACS maintenance and CE guys.  We were both there right from the beginning.  We needed the CE guys to get the Turkish runway up to specs for us to land there.  They obviously had a sh1tton other stuff to be working on.  Our guys helped them out as much as possible.  Once things settled down, they continued to work together to build the hooch.  We had another one that was officially ours near the softball field, but it was only open during the day and only CE and AWACS guys were allowed.  That also allowed our Os a place to hang for both units since they weren't allowed in the other hooches.

The CE guys are great guys to be friends with.  They are second only to supply guys in the chain of power when deployed.

I was in GLCM too!  Four years and three different assignments.  87-88 Florennes, COT'd to Wuescheim for 89 and half of 90, then COT'd to Comiso for the last half of 90.  Ground Radio troop but managed to get AUR loaded TEL certified, TEL Team Chief, LCC Team Chief, Asst. FMS.  Most satisfying of all my assignments; I loved GLCM.
