So, let me see if I understand correctly, losing on the road to a team with a rpi in the 200's is not big deal, but beating Dayton, at home, is a great win?

With the way Dayton was shooting and turning the ball over Sat, a really good team should have won by 30+. The Flyers outscored the Hogs in the 2nd half.
People ask me what I do in winter when there is no baseball.  I will tell you what I do. I stare out the window, and I wait for spring.

The team played well Saturday, the offense went through Portis.

In the 1st half, 2nd half not so much.  Let's see if that continues the rest of the non conference schedule these next 3 weeks.

They were doubling Portis heavy in the second half.

So, does that mean the Hogs are not better than Aub and LSU?

So if CMA gets credit for these "BIG" home wins, we "haters" can't question his decision making in the losses?

Got it.

Basically, if you say anything negative about the basketball team/program it is because you hate Mike Anderson. I know some people got banned after the Cal NIT game last year for saying nothing more than that was what they expected on the road from a MA coached team.

His team has the highest disparity home/away in the country, and has that by a wide margin. Since the players are not the same every season, you can't blame them.  The only constant is the way he coaches them to play.

I'm ecstatic about the win over Dayton at home, it was a solid win, but if Mike is going to stay here for a long time to come, the Hogs road record must seriously improve.

Pay attention. the record has improved every year. 18 wins, 19 wins. and 22 wins.the program is getting better every year under Mike. and it will be even better this year. this team will be in the dance this year.and we got Jimmy Whitt on the way. the program is in great hands.

Our win total should be going up. The SEC is progressively getting worse every year.

From here on out, Mike needs to be close to .500 on the road in the SEC.

A team can consistently improve and consistently underachieve.  They are not mutually exclusive.  A team that goes 18-2 at home should be able to do better than 4-10 elsewhere.  It was even worse the year before when they went 18-2 at home and 1-11 everywhere else.  How is that even possible?

People's "whining" about a coach that has missed the big dance for three straight years, does not even come close to comparing to your out right wailing about refs cheating the hogs ate everything from football to tiddly winks.

But I will make you a deal, I won't post one more thing negative about the Hogs basketball team, if you won't post one more thing about refs, period.  I realize this will take away 99.9% of your posting repertoire, but I think it is a fair offer.

There is a tiny difference between the status of UCONN basketball, and Arkansas basketball right now.  That said, they were plenty excited, and complimentary of Dayton.

Well, yeah.

No one here said it was not a quality win, although it won't carry as much because, as usual, it was at home. But the Hogs have had plenty of those in the last decade. But a home win against an unranked opponent, imo, is not a BIG WIN.

I have said I think this is a ncaat team, but they sit right where they did last year, likely needing a 12-6 sec record, to get in.

I am paying attention. It's true there is improvement as a whole but the overwhelming majority of those wins are in BWA. The Hogs road record the last 3 years is very poor and must improve. The starting lineup changes and the way the Hogs played in the 1st half of the Dayton game is encouraging though.

Haven't seen anyone else say this yet:

Yes Dayton was an Elite 8 team last year and one would think they would be ranked coming off that and having only lost to last years National Champs

BUT

They aren't because they lost 4 of their top 6 scores from last year. They lost 50% of their scoring. SO this years Dayton team is NOT as good as last years. Its a good win but they are anywhere close to last years team.

Today, they're generally in that 10 seed range already;  with the RPI, the bubble is going to be at 10 losses, with our schedule; 9 or under should be in; 8 overall losses will likely be a mid range seed for us.
