Auburn vs. Clemson scouting report from only coach to beat both, Temple's Fran Dunphy

Temple defeated both teams in the Charleston Classic earlier this season, beating Auburn 88-74 and topping Clemson 67-60.

Owls coach Fran Dunphy shared his thoughts and insight on how his team beat both ahead of the matchup between No. 4 seed Auburn (26-7) and No. 5 seed Clemson ahead of their second-round NCAA Tournament game tonight (6:10 p.m. CT, TBS).

Against Clemson, Dunphy cited Temple's 3-point shooting (10 for 28) and free throws (11 for 13) as key offensively and containing CU to 7 for 26 from 3-point range and 7 for 9 at the foul line as factors defensively.

"We turned it over a lot less; we turned it over 11 times, they turned it over 18," Dunphy said...

Temple had its second-highest scoring performance of the season against Auburn, a product of the faster pace the Tigers like to play. Another 10 for 26 outing from 3-point range was key as well.

Just as Clemson lost Grantham since playing Temple, Auburn had Anfernee McLemore at the time and he had 19 points, seven rebounds and five blocks off the bench against the Owls.

But most impressively, Temple limited Auburn's guard trio, who has been struggling mightily on the offensive end over the last four weeks.
