Watched a couple of the last games and dude is like getting 0 playing time.  Is he hurt or did he get in the dog house someway?

All fingers point at Hoiberg. He is horrible. Bulls fans are wanting his head and the Gar/Pax GM duo who fired Thibs and brought in this guy. Have been for quite awhile. I feel for Portis being in that situation in general. Tons of talent on that team for being sub .500...

He may not be much of an NBA coach, but he is a good/very good college coach.
Hoping the Hogs basketball fortunes change for the better this season.

It seems in a given week when I check Bobby's stats he probably gets a "DNP Coach's Decision" stat line half the time. He's just not in a good situation for him. Coach, system, etc. It ain't workin'.

Hope he doesn't end up like Goodwin and start a d league career.

Really strange what has happened there. Last year BP averaged about 18 min per game and averaged 7 pts and 5.7 reb. on a 42-40 team. In the off season they do a make over on the roster, change some bigs out, bring in D Wade. BP had a slow start in pre season and got off to a slow start, now mostly gets mop up duty. This past march they exercised their 2017 which was pretty much a given since they would have had dead cap money. They will have decline or exercise their $2.5 million option for 2018 by March. Teams have seen enough of him that he will certainly have takers after 17 if Chicago opts out.

Might should have stayed in school 4 years, but you gotta take the money.

I've watched almost all the games and Portis has been terrible when given minutes. Plays zero defense, looks awkward in the offense. Not sure what is going on but be may need a change of scenery.

Hoiberg will be fired before the end of the season. The locker room is a mess right now.

That's weird. I've watched all the Bulls games too and I see moments where I think he should be getting minutes of Mirotic or Gibson. He does look like he's regressed this year a bit, but he has loads of potential.

I think the Bulls just made a really strange decision to go older and slower with Wade and Rondo. And Rondo's attitude is enough to not have picked him up.

And it's hard to live up to what Tibs did. When you fire a coach who's got you in the playoffs every year... your next guy better be getting you to the Conference finals or he's a bust.

Clear the front office.

I wondered if with Wade there Hoiberg was afraid Bobby would take shots away from everyone else. Coach afraid to coach.

Having 4 power forwards on your team is not usually a recipe for success in the NBA.  And they are all stretch 4's besides Gibson for the most part.

But to watch a team that plays with as little energy as Chicago just keep a guy with the motor that Portis has on the bench is a travesty.  In the stat lines I've looked at, his rebounds per minute played are almost 1:1 and he routinely will have the 2nd or 3 most rebounds and offensive boards despite playing less than 1/3 of the minutes of the other players.

How the hell does a guy get better if he doesn't play?

From all I've seen Hoiberg is in over his head.  His rotations would be right at home in Mike Anderson's brain.

Foshodo

same thing happened to Brewer... Portis isnt scoring when he's on the court.

everybody loves hustle, rebounds and deflections but you have to score... portis will have one night where he gets 10 and then he'll shoot 2-17 the next 3 games he plays...

he has to score... it's a mentality thing. Joe Johnson had issues with it as well but he overcame them...

Hope Portis does.

He needs to play and ostensibly, this move is about getting him on the court and furthering his development. Could be a prelude to a trade as well though.

Just got sent down to the D-league

He'll play a game with Windy City on Friday and then be back in the Bulls lineup on Saturday against Toronto. Still, something will give with Chicago for Bobby Portis. It doesn't appear Hoiberg is going to develop. So, either Holberg gets canned and something changes with Bobby Portis' development... or Bobby is traded.

ErieHog

The frontcourt situation in Chicago is bad for him;  they're committed to trying to make players of a bunch of guys, and there just aren't minutes to be had.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Porky McGee

Bobby had 32 pts, 9 rebs, and 3 assists in his first D-League game.

Sounds about right. I live in Chicago and though biased think he should be play over Mirotic and Felicio.  Gibson is a solid vet and Lopez is a true 5, but Hoiberg likes Mirotic's 3 point ability and I don't know what he sees in Felicio. Portis got off to a rough preseason/early season with his sshot, but he energy and effort is always there. It is true though that he looks awkward and gets lost on defense at times.

skinnypig

I look for him to be moved to another team before long, since he will continue to tear it up the D league. I'd like to seem him go to Memphis

That was a short stay.  Portis has been called back up.
