Below is favorite part of the article and i completely agree.  You recruit defense.  You teach offense.

If the defense has enough good players, it'll make stops and prevent scores. Some coaches believe that defenses need premium athletic talent more than offenses.

"The more coaches you talk to these days, good defenses are about having good personnel," Dykes said. "You'd don't necessarily need the best personnel to have a good offense."

Agree. Offensively you always have a tactical advantage because the defense must react to what you do every play. On Defense you really need to be a half step quicker than the guy lined up across from you because he knows what is going to happen, you don't.

You can teach defense, too.  What you can't teach is premier defensive line talent.  Size and speed is what it is.
