Does anyone else think that the BBall team is out of shape?  I bring this up because it was a question someone else asked the other day.  They have season tickets and were at the SC game.  They happen to be talking to a certain coach with lots of experience on this as well as the trophies to show.  They asked him the same question.  I don't know that they got a straight answer but the implied answer was yes.  I would agree.  Looking at how they perform late in the games it would appear that they are not in top condition.  That was one of the reasons Nolan's teams were able to apply "40 minutes of hell" because he ran the crap out of them and kept them in shape.  Anyone that has seen a practice, does Heath run them at all?

i dont know how much they run during or after practice, but i definitely see what you are talking about.  they are definitely not as in shape as our teams of the mid 90's, mainly because of style of play

YES... and No... they are in shape ... BUT... not in the kind of shape the 40 minutes requires... Remember the Nolan Practices

What I was told about the SC game was that late in the game during TOs they were all grabbing the bottom of their shorts, a classic sign of being worn out.  I could understand it if they gave 110% the whole game but they don't give that kind of effort every game.  With the amount of effort they give as a team there is no reason they should be tired unless they are not in shape.

yes they are out of shape. one of the current players worked for a friend of mine this summer and stated that exact fact. they are not put thru enough work to be able to last the whole game.

Yes i have noticed that as well. Especially brewer. While I don't think grabbing the bottom of your shorts is a good indicator on some people (because i do it whether i am tired or not at the free throw line). i do see other things that make me believe they are tired even by early in the second half. modica was noticably putting his hands on his head to catch his breath better but then again he can do that all he wants if he keeps putting up 37.

I think this is really hurting us in the second half of games on defense. While i have stuck by stan in most of his coaching i think this is something he can actually fix. It may be to late to fix it this season without throwing the whole thing down the crapper but they should not have been out of shape by this point in the season.

Nolan's practices were more intense that the games.  I cant imagine anything like that from Stan.

It is too late to fix it now because this is something that has to start in the off-season.  This team plays better when it's an up-tempo game but they cannot sustain that kind of game with the shape they are in now.  That's why they have extended dry spells in the second half and why we can't finish anyone off when we get a lead.
