Talladega

Going for the first time in May.  Any tips from those who have been?  Parking, events, food, etc...

Getting out is a beast. We got there early, parked, cooked breakfast, and then hung out till race. I've set low and that's a no go. Get in a tower section and you can see nearly everything. My second and third times there I sat tower. We cooked out again after race to let traffic panic die down.

Try and get high in the Tri Oval Tower closer to the OV Hill North Tower side.  Tower seats straight across to the first part of pit road.

Actually, that is where we got our tickets.  Based on the 3D viewer, it looks like great seats next to an aisle....

I got tired of fighting the traffic so I now stay in a hotel that has bus service to and from. Police escort in and out.

There is nothing close to the track.  NASCAR books the closest places at every track for their personnel.  Talladega is in Eastaboga.  Track is literally out in the middle of no where.  I stayed in Birmingham at The Redmont Hotel.  Old hotel but nice.  It's the place that Hank Williams, Sr. spent his last night in.

The 3 hotels that still have openings and Shuttle Service are all in Birningham; Doubletree, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Airport. Go to the Talladega Speedway website and look for Hotel discounts. Or try this http://www.degarooms.com/
