Fox has landed half of the Big 10's Tier 1/2 broadcasting rights, which could pay up to $250M annually.  According to the article, ESPN submitted a "non-competitive" bid.  The deal is for 6 years.

what's up ESPN's sleeve?

ESPN has overpayed for rights fees in the past. The market is shifting. People are "cord cutting" and ESPN is hemorrhaging dollars. Just a readjustment.
