I was going to brag on my son a little bit. He's ran faster, but the heat was nearly unbearable that day. Everyone's times were slower than usual. The headwind didn't help either.

Notice he says your boy instead of "our coach". Very telling.

I'm not worried. If he recruits like he did here Louisville will fire him in about 5 years.

Congrats, kid has some wheels.  Has he thought about track in college?

ballz2thewall

this should always be welcomed here, slow season or not.

brag away, man. well deserved.

my son, generally an average student, worked hard and made the dean's list in college. he did it self-motivated, without me riding him.

best regards to you and your son.

Good job on your son. It is hard to get young people self-motivated. I believe because of that he has a bright future.

Among other schools, see if your son is interested in any of the Service Academy's programs. Now is the time to start laying the ground work, and could include a sponsored visit during the summer following his junior year.  Oh, and congratulations to your son.

My son (and his twin daughter) can now climb up to the couch all by himself (and herself).

Does that count for anything ? ;)

Nice times but an 11.4 doesn't seem to be SEC standard.

Enjoy every moment. They're gone before you know and you never get them back.

This young man is 15-16 years old first full year in track, on a hot day into the wind and your comparing him to college track stars 5 or 6 years older, cmon man give the kid a break!

Wasn't going to comment, but he has ran 11.2 and he decided to run track in January.

BTW Jarrion Lawson ran a 10.98 his freshman year in college.

It will be a long shot for my son to get offered a scholarship by Arkansas.  It's very possible though for him to get a preferred walkon offer.

That is awesome!  Congrats!

my kid will be a sophomore in Katy tx, next year.  He ran a leg this year (freshman yr) on the varsity 4 x400 relay.  He had a time of 50.9 in the 400 meters as a freshman.

Sorry, not my intent to diss anyone but I do speak from personal experience.  I had similar personal bests  at 11.2 and 22.8, ran on a state championship team and was part of two relay teams that competed in the Meet of Champs.  No SEC team came knocking on my door but I was hell in intramurals.   :)
