Did anyone catch the semi-final match yesterday involving Elizabeth Moon from Forrest City? Short version, she missed a 5ft putt for the win on the 19th hole and pulled the putt back to re-putt as you can in match play. The problem was she did it before her opponent could concede it, thus incurring a 1 stroke penalty and losing the match. It was the right call, but a terrible way to lose as she deserved to win the match.

My youngest plays in ASGA tournaments and we see her all the time, sweet young girl who swings like John Daly with the driver, haha. She has too, she doesn't look like she can weigh 90lbs, but a fierce competitor. Hopefully this won't leave any scars, and she gets the opportunity to play in college. They said she was ranked around #2250 or so, I doubt there are that many Jr Girls better than her.

I saw it.  Just a dumb move.  Bet she doesn't do it again.

She needs to work on that swing.  She's losing some distance with all those moving parts.

It was a dumb move, however, the sportsmanlike thing to do for the other player would have been to say that she had conceded it.  I'm not really sure how I feel about it.

Well, she said she was going to concede it, but Elizabeth pulled back the putt about the time it stopped rolling, she didn't have time.

I don't buy that.  She turned away like she was walking to the next hole, then her eyes got big and she said, "I didn't say that was good."  If she had said nothing, they would have gone to the next hole.

She turned away to look at her caddie because she didn't give that putt.

It's not her fault moon had a brainfart.

Meh, I don't know about that.  I would have had mor respect for her if she had said, "No,'I didn't concede it.  She was melting down and missed a three footer.  I'm making her putt everything."

She tried to have it both ways.

Correct, Moon went way too fast on retrieving her ball.

You ever see her dad lock her out of their RV in a pouring rainstorm?  It was a few years back.  I think it was in Greenville, MS.  One of many stories that has circulated on the junior circuit about our local Korean golfing parents, and one of several I witnessed when my son was traveling for tourneys.

You'll have to convince dad of that first, but I fully agree.

Nope, I haven't, haha. I've seen a lot of less than exemplary behavior from both parents and players.

Rice.

How old are the girls that compete in the Jr Girls? What kind of scores do they shoot?

I have a daughter that is starting to like golf.

I mean the local ASGA type stuff. Not the Amateur Match play.

I think they start at 12? I really only know about the age 14 and up, mine didn't start playing ASGA until 14, he played in the JR PGA tournaments until then. As far as scores, the top ones shoot close to par, but scores will run up into the 110's. It went the same way for the boys, too.

Thanks.

So she doesn't need to be great to play. That's what I wanted to know.

Elizabeth has a lot of college options. It may take her a while to get over the end of that match, but I hope she does.

She tied for 9th at the Big I in Mississippi this week, rained all week and they shortened both the boy's and girl's tournament to 36 holes, instead of 72.
