The Tavern is sort of like the social/non-sports/communal area where people tend to shoot the breeze the most.  There's a minimum post count to see it and use it.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

No, the verification goes away in 10 or 20 posts.    Tavern access is higher than 50-- it was 100 or 200 last I remember.

I think it does, unless the thread ends up in the trash can.   Those disappear from the post count--  if you post a lot on the coaching search threads, or the Gruden board, you'll probably encounter that.

You'll need several hundred posts to be able to see it.   There are a few areas on the board that are not available to new members, until they've generated a certain number of posts;  I'm not sure what those standards are for the Tavern.

Yep, it needs to be upped to a 1,000 to enter DST.  Hopefully that will keep out some of the trolls from other SEC schools from making it in there.
