"As great a talent as he is, and with everything he has at stake professionally down the road, it shows what kind of teammate he is, and where this team is right now, with the guys who are high-profile players doing everything possible to win games and be great teammates," Sumlin said of Garrett, who is projected by some to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

He suffered the leg injury in the Aggies' 45-24 victory over Arkansas on Sept. 24 but insisted on returning in that game.

He then sat out A&M's 24-13 victory at South Carolina before returning in what was supposed to be a limited role against then-No. 9 Tennessee. So what about Saturday's marquee matchup between the Aggies (6-0, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) and the Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0)?

"I can play on first, second, third and fourth downs," Garrett said, smiling.

Garrett teams up with senior Daeshon Hall to form what widely is considered to be the top defensive-end tandem in the nation. The duo has combined for 71/2 [sic] sacks, 16 quarterback hurries and 15 tackles for loss in six games.

As one era of LSU football may be coming to an end, a new one has already begun: the Derrius Guice era.

Guice ran roughshod over the Aggies, accumulating a school-record 285 yards on 37 carries with four touchdowns. Guice bested the LSU single-game rushing record of 284 yards set by Fournette against Ole Miss on Oct 22. Fournette needed just 16 carries to set that record.

"This is a game of inches," Guice said. "If you don't wrap up and secure your tackle, I'm going to get an extra inch."

Tebow declined a lucrative endorsement deal at the behest of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, and then was released by the team just a few weeks later.

Tebow said that he had a $1 million endorsement deal, but he went to ask Belichick if he should take it. Belichick acted like he was thankful Tebow came to him when he likely wouldn't have asked other coaches, and Belichick said that he would "really appreciate" Tebow not taking the endorsement.

"Well, I didn't want to be a distraction on the team," Tebow said. "I wanted to be just another guy in the locker room. Someone that could work, someone that could be a backup to Tom, and I didn't want to be a distraction having stuff all over the headlines. That's why I called coach Belichick to say 'what do you think about this, this is a great opportunity to say yes to, but I want to do what's right for the team first.'

Belichick asked him to not do it, and Tebow said that he doesn't look back and regret it. Then again, it's hard to imagine he didn't have any regrets at that point. That's a lot of money to leave on the table, even to a player who was faced with the prospect of far more in the NFL.
