Razorback Pastor

I just checked and in 2005 scout.com had Dmac a 4* runningback with LaMarcus Coker ahead of him as a 5* runningback.

That didn't turn out the way too well for TN did it!! HA!! HA!!

I thought that was funny.....

There wasn't much going on tonight and I ran across it and thought I'd share it with everybody.

Help me out.....what happened to Coker??

He's just saying DMac has been more dominating by far as a 4 star than a 5 star like Coker.  Coker needs to put on some muscle, but has the speed to be a major back... not to mention the Vols O-Line was so so which didn't help.

From Scout.com: "He also competes as a sprinter on the track team in the 100m, 200m and 4x100 relays.
Coker clocked a 10.61 in the 100m on his way to winning a state championship during his soph track season."

He plays some for TN when he's not suspended...
He was just so highly thought of and.......well he's no Dmac you know? Or you'd know what happened to him!! HA!!! HA!!! I love it....DMAC is THE MAN!!

This is a perfect example of why I don't even look at Scouts recruit rankings, Rivals on the other hand ranked Coker a 4* and McFadden a 5*.

I couldn't agree with you more.....you can look at the same 2 sites right now and the results are the same with some of our current recruits

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

It also doesn't help that Coker was hurt last year.  He also had to fight through Arian Foster and Montario Hardesty.  Still a solid back.  But, after three years in the program, is still in a battle to be the top back.

Coker is going to be a stud.

You may be right, but I am just not seeing it.

remember, when DMC came out of high school, many coaches and experts said he would be an All-SEC running back, but an All-American safety.

i recall that when casey dick threw a pick on the last play of the 2005 LSU game in baton rouge, DMC knocked the interceptor delirious 10 yards through the sidelines.  i thought, well, i can see where that notion came from...

The funniest thing about that recruiting class was when Felix chose us over Tenn and Okie State.  A Hog fan went on the Tenn rivals board and started bragging about us getting Felix.  All their posters were like 'so what, we don't care.  He was our 7th choice anyway.'  I'll bet alot of money they don't think that way anymore.  I hate Tennessee.

That offseason some said on here and on call-in shows that maybe they should put McFadden at Safety and let Felix be the feature back.

Imagine that.

Coker isn't quite DMAC but he is no slouch.  IMO he is one of if not the best rb in the sec outside of DMAC and Felix.  Tennesse should have one of the best ground games in the sec with Foster and Coker.

the depth chart before the 2005 season was
1. d'arrius howard
2. michael smith
3. felix jones
4. darren mcfadden

and that's with peyton hillis being deemed a fullback, he was really the #2.  then michael smith got hurt, and felix was the backup going into the first game.  DMC got in with the 3rd string o-line that game.

I went to the Rivals link above and checked out Dmac HS video.  All I got to say is "Woooowwwww!"  He is a true football player.  He was equally impressive as a safety as he was a running back.

I believe Dmac could have been drafted in the first round of the NFL draft at tailback, fullback, tight end, H-back, wide receiver, safety, and linebacker for sure if he was played at that respective position in college.  And possible cornerback or defensive end.  He is truly an athlete on the same level as Deion Sanders/Bo Jackson.

With that said, he is best at running back.

Player evaluation is much like predicting the weather; it is NOT an exact science!  Everything is based on potential, where is the player now and where can he go with what he has.  One of my favorite examples is Scottie Pippin.  He did little on the court in high school; not enough to warrant a scholie from UCA.  He goes to UCA as a team manager then grows about 7" over the summer.  Suddenly he is All-AIC and the NBA is looking at him and the rest is history!  Who blew his evaluation?

Coker will be good.

When he's healthy he's really good.  He's VERY quick.
