Are we putting more offers out early this year?  Some people think that by not doing that last year it cost us.

I understand that we have also offered a LB out of Kansas, Arthur Brown, and his brother Bryce who will be a RB in the 2009 class.  Arthur is in both the rivals & scout top 100, but does not show an interest in Arkansas.

Will be tough to get someone like Arthur Brown.  He's got offers from all over right now, including Florida.  We don't have a lot of success in Kansas.  Brandon Barnett is the exception...

I hate to put anyone in the "no chance" category this early, but that very well may be where he ends up.  The 1 glimmer of hope may be that it is my understanding that we have either offered his brother or are right on the verge of offering, whereas his brother is not as highly recruited, so would a brother package deal to the hill be possible.  I don't know, but stranger things have happened.

Brandon Barnett is from Texarkana, AR but played JUCO ball in Kansas.  He signed with Arkansas out of High School.

jhudson84

Arthur Brown brother will be more highly recruited than Arthur and stole Arthur posistion as starting running back on the varsity team his sophomore year.  Many say he will be the highest recruited player to come out of Kansas in a very very long time.

If that is an exhaustive list, then Texas has more commitments than we have offers out. Not offering early has and will kill us.

That will be saying something, because I just read an article where Arthur is being listed as 1 of the top 5 recruits in the nation going into his senior year, but I don't doubt that Bryce is better, it is just that Bryce does not have a ton of offers yet, so I say lets get in there early and sell them on playing SEC football, but staying somewhat close to home.

Well whether Houston's here after next year or not, they're starting recruiting off a lot better.

rohnjobus

I am very disappointed we have offered Dee Williams a scholarship and not Cruz Williams or Joe Adams.  Would much rather have those 2 than Dee!
Dee will not even have 4 years to play, and who knows if he can actually qualify this time.

jhudson84

I think they are holding out till jr day on most of these guys......trying to get them to committ on the spot, and alot of people are questioning Dee Williams, hes not as fast but hes favors Damian quite a bit

Dee is bigger, stronger, and more athletic than Damian Williams.  Damian Williams however, may be a more polished reciever right now, but Dee has recorded a 4.41 forty at a camp, which makes him faster than Damian.  Damian's filed vision and cut back ability made him the great high school player he was, but he will not be able to utilize that skill on the college level playing agains bigger, and faster players, but he will still be a solid reciever.  Joe Adams  however is a very similar player to Damian Williams.

jhudson84

Dee is not faster than Damian as simple as that no getting around it.  That 4.41 will probably be closer to a 4.6, hes bigger and stronger but not faster

blueshog2001

Dee's height and  strength should make it easier to get separation. Which is someting allot of our receivers had a problem with last year.

tbhogfan

DTS reported last night that Jim Youngblood had been offered.  Can't verify anywhere yet.

Neither rivals or scout is showing an offer, but rivals does have a story where he names his top 5, but I was unable to read it.

Damian has never run under a 4.5.  I have seen him play Central in person and on several films.  He is not a speed reciever, and yes Dee Williams is faster than Damian.  I think that Damian is a better reciever but he is not faster or as athletic as Dee Williams.  The coaches at Butler have said that Dee was the best freshmen reciever on the team and Terry Levy a 4 star on both Scout and Rivals played on that Butler team.  You have not seen Dee play, and it is as simple as that.

Zen_Hog

Arkansas has offered another player, Jim Youngblood

HOG_INSURANCE

I wish we could pull some of the players from Cali. and Pete Carrol.  If you have Great coaches in place it doesnt matter what type or who you get for players...Look at Boise State.  You cant teach someone to be an athlete, but you can teach an athlete.
Thank goodness my N.O. Saints are winning!

jackflash

no matter how many we have offered, we have to come up with four really good corners, playing time is suppose to be the thing nowdays, yet we failed in this area, my question is would have help to have someone who is from Texas who has played that position.   :razorback: :razorback: :razorback: :razorback:

Lerentee McCray was offered by Florida State this week. He went to the same high school as 2007 signee Juwan Franklin. Herring found him when he went to Dunellon to help recruit Juwan.

He will have an offer from every school in Florida, and I do not think that Arkansas has any chance of landing him.

blueshog2001

Are Juwan and him friends? Maybe there is a way of swaying him.

There are Three things in life that matter... GOD, Family and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The rest you can deal with if you have any time left over.

Anyone else find the geographical breakdown of the offers interesting.  The offensive players are almost all from SEC states whereas the defensive offers are almost all from Big-12 states.  To be more specific, if you eliminate the players from AR, here is the breakdown:

Offense - 16 Offers, 10 from states where SEC schools are located
Defense - 19 Offers, 11 from states where Big 12 schools are located

Probably just a coincidence.  Anyways, it's nice to see us going after kids that the big boys are recruiting as well.  Hopefully we can trick some of them into coming.  Cheers

Denton TX defensive end Josh Williams has been offered and named Arkansas his leader.  He has offers from Missouri, Nebraska, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, TCU etc.etc.

hawgwild1087

We offered RB Alex Daniel (5-11, 198) from Roswell, GA.  Looks like AR is his only SEC offer so far.

Elijah "EJ" Epperson, a 6-4 TE from Tennessee, picked up an offer from the Hogs as well as a few other SEC schools.
Heres what he had to say about Arkansas:  "To me, I really like the atmosphere of their games I watch on TV. They have a lot of great players. They sent a lot of players to the NFL this year. They have great recruiting coaches, and they won the SEC West, which is big to me."

TX LB Damian Square

FL WR Darren Sewell

GA OL Ronald Byrd

GA DE James Searcy

GA S Vance King

Dee Williams is bigger, faster and more athletic than Damien Williams and would have been starting had he qualified academically last year.  I expect this young man to have a great college career and make an impact right away.  He's also an excellent kickoff return man...
