Flashback injury puts him off Kentucky Derby trail

Santa Anita Derby runner-up Flashback has an injury that will sideline him for two months. Trainer Bob Baffert made the announcement on his Twitter page.

"Sorry to say Flashback off Derby trail. Removing small knee chip this week. Should be back in training in 60 days," Baffert posted on Twitter.

Flashback, owned by Gary and Mary West, finished 1 1/4 lengths behind Goldencents in Saturday's $750,000 Santa Anita Derby. The colt was the 11-10 favorite in the eight-horse field.

Winner of two of his four starts, Flashback captured the Robert B. Lewis Stakes on Feb. 2 at Santa Anita and was second to Hear the Ghost in the San Felipe Stakes on March 9.

Along with two second-place finishes he has earned $357,000.
