Missouri actually committed 15 infractions, but the Blue Raiders declined two penalties.

Missouri's homecoming game Saturday against Middle Tennessee State was the start of a four-game stretch that was supposed to potentially put the Tigers on the path to a bowl bid in Coach Barry Odom's first season. Instead, the Tigers lost 51-45 to the Blue Raiders, a Conference USA opponent that already had lost by 23 points this season to Vanderbilt and in double overtime last week to Western Kentucky.

Middle Tennessee entered the game with one of the nation's top-performing offenses, and a Missouri defense that has struggled most of the season allowed its most points since 2013.

Now, the bigger question becomes not whether Missouri (2-5) will make a bowl game but whether it will even win another game at all. Winnable games remain against Kentucky, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, but all of those teams have at least one conference victory – Missouri does not –
