What i mean is, who was the supposed "white knight" or "savior" for our program that people wanted to grab, and that was attainable?

Was there some sutton link, or sutton assistant out there?  Some other SWC coach?

Who were the orville and wally's of the world clamoring for when nolan was going through his rough times in 86, 87, and 88?   who was the "mike anderson" of the late 80s?

Look, just give it up.

Put Mike's head coaching record and JP's record side by side.

If you feel JP compares favorably, then good for you.

I was thinking Mike might have coached at UAB and JP at USA, but maybe I got my facts wrong.

And yes, to continue your little diagram, I anticipate JP going 28-6 next year and 13-3 in conference and winning the conference tourney and ending up as a 3 seed in the NCAAT -- don't you?

Nolan was 12-16 in his first year (1985-86), 19-14 in his 2nd (NIT) and 21-9 in his third (NCAA). Orville and Wally understood what Nolan was going through his first year with his daughter dying. They weren't calling for his head.
