The FBI just served the warrants in the EYBL program for Nike, so its going to take some time for them to unearth the appropriate dirt for sweating Kentucky.

They're a long way behind the Adidas schools in this process--  Auburn, South Carolina, and Mississippi State are going to be under the gun first.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I believe (though may be wrong) that Auburn is an Under Armor school.

Auburn had an assistant coach arrested yesterday in the federal probe, though.  Their primary contract is with UA, but they still deal with Adidas.

Though I can't confirm your quote about dealing with Adidas (maybe you have more information), Chuck Person was involved by getting money (91K) then  steering recruits  toward a financial advisor that would be used if that player made it to the NBA.  He also was involved in a guy in Atlanta that ran a clothing store.  In this specific case, it was about the financial adviser angle and not the uniform company.  This case was simply a different way to funnel money to a player.

King

Adidas for shoes, under armor for uniforms.

Was reading different basketball forums. One thread on Kentucky's forum was discussing this. A few are concerned about past Nike involvement with players. Mentioning some players by name. Including Monk.

Can't blame some for being nervous. Curious to see how many former/current Kentucky recruits are involved if any.

I imagine that over the next 6 months to a year we will see more and more schools get exposed. Whether or not Kentucky is involved is still to be determined. It wouldn't surprise me.

It doesn't matter.  How long has it been since North Carolina was exposed.  They still playing, coaching and cheating.  The only way anything gets done is thru the FBI.  The NCAA is part of the problem, you know "turn the other cheek" guys.
There are all kinds of Lions, Tigers and Bears in college football.  But there is only one Razorback.  Beware the Tusks!!! They are coming

Yup. NCAA is compromised by the $$. That's clear more now than ever even though we have known it for a long time

RagingHawgOn

Kentucky has every reason to sweat. No way in hell you run a program based on one-and-dones, year in and year out, without promising those kids something or paying off their families.

TrueBlue

Calipari has been up all night destroying burner phones and erasing files off of his computer.

As far as te NCAA is concerned, they are going to be next on the FBI radar. They knew what was going on and did nothing about it.

If Monks involvement plays a part in toppling coach Cal a third time, I'm gonna laugh my ass off

People look at the UNC deal completely wrong.   'But it came out four years ago!'-- well, the first allegations did.  And they keep mounting.  And that always resets the clock with the NCAA investigation-- plus UNC is fighting them with lawyers in advance as well, in preparation to take the NCAA to court even before the findings are concluded.

These things take forever to get resolved for a reason.

This money has to come from somewhere.  Nike will probably start the money trail.  The FBI will find where the money went.  It's just a matter of time. Too bad  if Marcus has to do some time.

Thanks for that reminder. It's easy to lose it and just scream instead of thinking. I do that pretty often.
Quite honestly, I would expect the "second-tier" programs (think Syracuse, Louisville, UConn) to be hit harder on this stuff than the top dogs.
I'd think it would be similar to how you see an Auburn or Ole Miss cheating more often than a Bama or Clemson in football.
I think at some level, the top coaches like Cal or Saban can walk into a home and say, "Play for me. I'm the best. I'll get you where you want to be professionally." Hugh Freeze or Jim Boeheim can't say that as easily (seriously, Boeheim has put like 5 really good players into the NBA in 40 years).
Go Hogs, Go Cardinals, and Go Grizzlies!

I doubt KY will ever be caught because they are masters at protecting themselves.  They have multiple levels of people looking to find what the guy above them has overlooked in brushing his tracks.

BB is everything to them and they are not going to let somebody be careless in covering his back side, which is why they have the checkers checking the checkers. You can forget about KY getting nailed, in IMO...

I hope not but I have to agree. Sort of like Bama in football. It's an perfectly run institution.

ShadowHawg

The fewer people involved in covering up misdeeds the better. So Bama and Kentucky do not have extra layers checking things out. That in itself would attract attention eventually regardless of how secretly it might be conducted.

If Marcus wanted help getting clients after he got his agents license I wonder what he had at his disposal in order to get ins with Nike?
If Auburn is dirty so is Gus. You can't have it both ways. Deal with it.

I have been reading rupp rafters the past couple of days and it is hilarious how much joy they are taking in seeing UL go down, and in the same breathe totally believing that they have nothing to hide!

Behind Pitino, Cal is considered the second shadiest coach out there. And it is based on his previous experiences of scorching the earth at UMASS and Tiger High. But, wait guys Coach Cal isn't shady anymore.

So, you're telling me that these kids are getting upwards of 150K to go to Louisville, but all the Kentucky recruits and players have turned that cash down to go play for Cal for free? HA HA

They are in denial, but the house of cards will come down. Even if somehow Kentucky doesn't end up getting caught, the cheating will have to stop, or evolve somehow. For a few years, there will probably be little if any going on while the slime in the shadows figures out their next move. Hopefully Arkansas can take full advantage and win some SEC championships.

Absolutely. There is more to it than just playing under the bright lights at UK than "attracts" and "keeps" the top tier players flowing in from all across the country...

With KY there never is any sweating............................
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.
