People continue to not understand who was actually on the bike and who wasn't.  He didn't lie about that
There were several lies and this one was not even on my mind.  No way she comes away without a scratch...

Really?  How did OU do under Switzer's "leadership"?

You cannot be serious. Different era, different set of values in college football overall, different school.

I've always been proud of the fact the Hogs have not been so committed to winning they will allow a DGB on the team after he punched a woman, or a joe mixon.  If committed to winning means having all those blackeyes OU has had over the years I may have to go cheer for a sunbelt team.  I am not saying we haven't had a few blackeyes ourselves but nothing on the scale of some of these teams.

And I understand you think that the state of Arkansas would have kept producing classes like 2007-08. But reality says no.  I use other teams to point out certain fallacies. You maintain CBP would have kept winning here at a high level because of his system. I have shown where he didn't even win 10 last year with that high powered offense and hiesman winning Qb and in fact LOST to the only two SEC teams he played. But you carry on

He still won more games than CBB has ever won here.

Also, by YOUR logic: CBP has won a BCS bowl whereas CBB has not.  Therefore CBP > CBB.

Nah its just a matter of "my dog is better then your dog" argument. But the final tally wont be known until years from now.
I hope CBB succeeds for many reasons. The biggest is it means my hogs are rolling. But secondarily and of less importance it will shut some of these people up making this website tolerable to find out useful information such as Montaric Brown passing his ACT, woo pig.  I could careless about Bobby P. He aint our coach. But on a side note, I do hope he fails epically at loserville so I don't have to hear all the  "know it all" saying 'I told ya so' And of more importance on a personal side, because he hurt the program I love with his antics.  then again right now in some sports bar there is a group of men saying 'hey, maybe we should hire escorts for our recruits'.  I pray Arkansas never stoops so low and maintains its integrity. I can live with that. Just like I can live with my mom being a maid and knowing she turned down extra cash for 'side favors'. I would have to hang my head in shame to learn she was a maid as a front to her real activities. I suspect everyone on this board feels the same way

what did he do that was so great? did he win the west division? did he ever play in an seccg? I can name two who did and one is equal to an acorn, literally, but he still managed to get to the ship. Hell Nutt LOST to tenn. and will still moved up in the polls in 98.  No I wont say he was THE greatest. He was one of the better ones though. But based on record so was 'a nutt'.
What CBP did that you and so many love is he gave an offense that you felt had a chance to win. though it NEVER beat Bama. Even that "nutt' guy beat bama. How can a Nutt beat Bama and YOUR so called 'greatest' coach in the history of Ark in the SEC never beat them?  Maybe I misremember, let me go back and see how many times CBP won that important match up. How many SECCG he coached in. ummm Did he actualy coach in the ship?  You see, its all relative. And curse you for making me have to pull out a nutt and prop him up as if he was actually intelligent.  That man has more fleas in his head then a blue tick hound in the smokey mountians of tenner. It did strike me as curious to read in the ASP report that Dorrell showed "no signs of any injuries." The face of the driver of the motorcycle was cut, bruised, and swollen, and all he could do was groan, but the purported passenger sitting right behind him showed "no signs of any injuries?"

Either she jumped off the bike before Petrino had the wreck, the story that she was on the bike was fabricated, or she was one incredibly lucky young woman.

In all fairness, how many times did HDN beat Alabama after he took over at Ole Miss? He lost by progressively greater margins each of the 4 years that he was there as the talent began to graduate or go to the NFL. The only thing that precluded that while he was at Arkansas was that Saban didn't show up at Alabama until 2007, Nutt's last year at Arkansas. But you are right about MOTHO.

Given the option between believing a man who would have an affair and physics, I tend to go with the latter. It most certainly would have made for an interesting cross-examination in a courtroom.

Somehow the Associated Press wound up with the Police Report. You do realize he admitted that she was on the motorcycle with him right? I mean, did you read the notes? Would you be convinced if more of the paperwork was linked for you to read?

http://abcnews.go.com/US/bobby-petrino-cheating-arkansas-razorbacks-coach-busted/story?id=16091430

Petrino initially told University officials he was by himself at the time of the crash, and that a couple stopped and helped him get to a hospital.

When he learned the police report would be released, he quickly changed his story.

Petrino now says Dorrell was his passenger on the motorcycle.

In a statement, Petrino said his concern was to "protect his family and a previous inappropriate relationship from becoming public."

"In hindsight, I showed a serious mistake in judgment when I chose not to be more specific about those details. Today, I've acknowledged this previous inappropriate relationship with my family and those within the athletic department administration..." the statement said.

The funny part is, Guv is going to acknowledge that his opinion was wrong based on shaky data/stories, but I doubt any of this is actually going to change his opinion. Next week, he will continue to make the same claims and act like this thread never happened.

This got way off topic, but it comes up so often and even though I really dont care what anyones opinion of the firing is, at the very least it should be rooted in fact.

I wont argue about fairness or how things went. There are many varibles to the game and coaching is 1 of 1000.  But I will dispute the claim CBP was "the greatest".  He was a great offensive mind and coach. He couldn't beat Bama or Sabin. He couldn't win the game that would propel his team into the ship. Two other coaches managed this feat. Coulda woulda shoulda. He didn't get it done. But he was entertaining. Caoching and gesturing.
And if you want to compare apples to apples, how about this. After Ford left, what did the incoming coach do with the talent on hand? final ranking, highest ranking. What about when Nutt left? How did the incoming coach do with the talent left?  What about when CBP left? of the 3, which left us set up for future success.  Consider the contestants.
Nutt=MOTHO aka acorn.
CBP offensive genius and winner of a bcs of bowl appearing in 2 bcs bowls
CBB Great coach for wisky. appearing in 3 BCS bowls.
One of these is not like the other two, yet had the most success with players left.

Some people can't see the forest for the trees.
They see a great run in four years under Petrino, and then attribute it to luck.
They see a guy like Chris Gragg leave the program as an NFL prospect and say 'look at that talent'. They don't remember that Gragg was a 2-star recruit. Yes, he was a 2-star recruit, but he looked good playing Petrino's offense. Same with Tyler Wilson.

Why can't people just admit that some coaches like Meyer, Saban, Stoops, Petrino, etc are just better than others?
We've been through this before. Bielema has had just as many *star* recruits to work with as Petrino had. Heck, Henry and Collns were 5-star guys. If you average out the roster and add up all their 'star' rankings, the talent was the same and maybe even better. I put together a list once of all the key contributors from 2010-11 teams and gave their ranking from high school, and it looked a typical Arkansas team. Lots and lots of 3-star guys...Bequette, Childs, Tramain Thomas, A Bailey, C Hamilton, J Franklin, on and on and on. Very standard Arkansas football squad.

As said before...Petrino was an elite offensive mind and that propelled Arkansas to levels it hadn't seen in 34 years. A Top 5 ranking. And the defense was good enough to slow opponents down to allow that offense to do its thing. That resulted in a lot of wins. (and a great kicker in Hocker, too).

I don't have a dog in this fight. To me, it's just stating the obvious. I totally expected this dropoff. Bielema is a good coach, he's just not at the elite level. I'm not calling for his head, but I'm not expecting anything fantastic. I'm just hoping we can jump up and have a 10+ win season occasionally. In other words, this is Houston Nutt Part 2. Pretty darn good, just not great.

This isn't about Long, Guv. As has been explained many times over, BP could have saved his arse had his first phone call been to Jeff Long so he could handle damage control. Instead, BP lied to Long and the University and everyone else for that matter (except the police) because he thought the police report wouldn't be made public and he would never have to admit his involvement with Jessica Dorrell. BP left Long little choice because the lie went public and embarrassed the University.

But even with all of that, Long tried to keep BP and BP didn't want to work under the terms that Long offered. That's where the "trying to make me a Monk" comment came from, that has also been stated to you on here. They couldn't come to an agreement and BP thought he was untouchable because of his wins. All he had to do in the end was to cooperate with Long and he couldn't make himself do that. He essentially signed his own pink slip in that moment, as if the rest of the stuff wasn't already enough.

Really think that one through

Petrino is a lying scumbag for sure but the fiance running him off the road didn't happen.

to be fair we had some "pretty darn good" teams in spite of HDN.
I cannot stand either HDN or BP, even if I think BP's scheme is the best fit for a team like Arkansas, but I do not understand how people talk about BP like he was amazing, when in reality he was just a little better than HDN in his time here.  Overall .610 vs .667 and in the SEC .525 vs .531
