due to lack of entries.  For years everyone has been predicting this would happen in California and last year they cancelled some cards due to this.  Thank god for Oaklawn and their ability to draw horses in from all over.   Florida tracks and Oaklawn seem to have the largest fields day in and day out.

You would think as big as California is this wouldn't be a problem.

Oaklawn was heading there fast before the casino.
Arkansas, the left lane state.

I would have thought that SA would have a higher daily purse distribution than Oaklawn. Is this not right?

There's not a track in America with better purses than Oaklawn. Which blows my mind that we still are so far behind as far as facilities and other things go. When Cella goes, it should be better.

It's Kentucky downs, Saratoga, and Oaklawn.  Crazy

Cella is all about the money and the accruing of it. Cella considers modernizing facilities as ordering a couple of truck loads of that dark green paint and go sloshing it wherever there is iron poles and railings. God knows they could use another couple of corned beef stands on the first two floors. I've stood in line 30 minutes to get one of those tasty sammiches and a beer. Cella says to hell with that, but by God let's keep this big SOB green as a gourd.
The long Grey line will never fail our country.

let's call it what it what really is, a room with a bunch of machines which take your money as fast as you can feed the bastard...when I see Blackjack tables, roulette wheels, craps tables and other games, then we'll call it a casino

I could be wrong but I think you guys are wrong thinking OP facilities will get better when Cella goes.  He likes the ponies, his son, who will take control is all about the casino.  It's not going to get better.

Never know, but I've been told by several oaklawn employees that his son already has several things in mind when the day comes. All good things for the racing and the facility.

I just hope the emphasis will be on racing. Racing is much more than just another way to gamble to me.
