Have seen one projection of her going in the late first round, and some with her going in the 2nd or even 3rd round.

Hope she hears her name get called so there is some light at the dark tunnel of her career at Arkansas. She, more than anyone else, got trapped into the Dykes regime. Appreciate that she did not transfer.

psycHOGlogist

CMN is at the draft with Plum, who was just taken #1 overall.

psycHOGlogist

In something of a surprise, Alaina Coates goes second. (A surprise because the Sky doesn't need size.) The hosts are speculating there's a trade in the works later tonight.

psycHOGlogist

Evelyn Akhator from KY goes 3rd to Dallas - pretty big surprise there. Wasn't even predicted she would go in first round.

psycHOGlogist

Allisha Gray from SC goes 4th, also to Dallas. Not a surprise.

psycHOGlogist

The 5th pick is Nia Coffey from Northwestern to Dallas. She played against the Hogs in the NCAAT two years ago.

Shatori Walker-Kimbrough from Maryland goes 6th to the Washington Mystics. She gets to stay home, basically.

psycHOGlogist

Atlanta takes Brittney Sykes, G from Syracuse. Short like Plum, but can light it up.

psycHOGlogist

Connecticut take Brionna Jones from Maryland at 8. Surprising - lots of talk about her defensive limitations.

psycHOGlogist

Chicago at 9 takes Tori Jankoska from Michigan St. This is a big reach, imo. Shooter, but don't think a "5'8"" (cough), elbow-throwing guard is the answer in the WNBA.

BTW - this production of the draft is a freaking joke. It looks like it's being held in the basement at Hugo's. No podium, no jerseys. Nothing. Really amateur hour.

psycHOGlogist

Kaela Davis from SC goes 10th to Dallas (who had 3 first round picks).

psycHOGlogist

With 11th pick LA takes Sydney Wiese from Oregon State. Good shooter.

psycHOGlogist

Minnesota at 12 takes Alexis Jones from Baylor.

So Jessica doesn't go first round. She is currently listed as one of the next 10 best players available, though.

psycHOGlogist

13th pick is Shayla Cooper from Ohio State to Connecticut.

psycHOGlogist

New York's first pick of the draft is Lindsay Allen, G from Notre Dame at #14.

psycHOGlogist

At 15, the Seattle Storm take 5'7" PG Alexis Peterson from Syracuse.

psycHOGlogist

Connecticut is also at 16, and they take Leticia Romero from FSU.

psycHOGlogist

Indiana Fever picks 17 and takes Erica McCall, a 6'3" post, from Stanford.

psycHOGlogist

The Washington Mystics, with pick 18, take Jennie Simss, G from ODU.

At 19, Atlanta takes Jordan Reynolds, G from Tennessee.

At 20, the Fever take Feyonda Fitzgerald, G from Temple.

psycHOGlogist

At 21, Chicago takes Chantel Osahor from Washington, another Neighbors player.

Jessica currently listed as the #3 player still available.

At 22, Ronni Williams from UF goes to Indiana.

At 23, Dallas takes G Breanna Lewis from Kansas State.

And with the last pick of Round 2, the Lynx take a G from France whom no one's ever heard of.

On to Rd 3...

psycHOGlogist

Wow - Rd 3 is taking no time at all.

25 - Schaquilla Nunn, TN to San Antonio
26 - Soniya Chong, UConn to Dallas
27 - Mehryn Kraker, Green Bay to Washington
28 - Jessica January, Depaul to Connecticut
29 - Alexis Prince, Baylor to Phoenix
30 - Lanay Montgomery to Seattle
31 - Oderah Chidom, Duke to Atlanta
32 - Adrienne Motley, Miami to Indiana
33 - Makayla Epps, Kentucky to Chicago

This is kind of depressing for Jessica.

34 - Kai James from FSU to New York
35 - Saicha Grant-Allen from Dayton to LA
36 - Tahlia Tupaea from Australia to Lynx.

Jessica gets left out. What a bummer for her. Hope she catches on somewhere.

BWS

I'm sure she'll get offers overseas. This was what I expected. She never really developed a strong mid-range game and is not a great defender. Unfortunately, she didn't have a coach to help develop that.

If a player is not selected in the  first 2 rounds, not being picked in round 3 is not that bad. I believe Jessica can try out for teams of her choice and demonstrate her talent and value.  Because of number of  reason, including coaching philosophy, I think she is a better player than she appeared to be at Arkansas.

Jessica can blame Dykes for this.  He totally ruined her and destroyed Brooks also.  Really sad.

LadybackBBFan

However, the fact that Connecticut Sun with Niki Collen being an assistant coach and they took a pass on JJ is telling.

I have to agree with that. It really is a bummer.

That's a damn shame. Her livelihood is damaged while jimmy gets to seat comfortable with that buyout SMH. Someone should be horsewhipped.

Bonehead

Jackson is signing a free-agent deal with Los Angeles Sparks. The key is that you want to a team that needs you. Nikki team didn't need her over half of these kids drafted will not make the roster

Jessica is not ruined but no doubt she is somewhat set back. With good coaching, she will recover and start playing up to her potential.
